Resting upon a traditional working farm in Ambleside, Cumbria, is Elterwater Park, a 17th century dwelling. Enveloped by beauty spots across the Lake District National Park, enjoying views across Loughrigg and the Langdales, whilst boasting characterful interiors and pretty gardens, the cottage welcomes ten guests and one well-behaved dog, perfect for a large family or a group celebration. Benefit from a spacious well-equipped kitchen/diner, ideal for rustling up hearty meals, before gathering around the formal dining table, seating up to 10 guests. Relax in front of the electric effect fire, or head into the inviting sitting room, featuring a selection of books and a woodburning stove, the ideal spot for some quiet time. Take advantage of your tranquil surroundings by venturing through the front garden, where you'll arrive at several patio areas arranged for alfresco dining or simply a morning coffee whilst overlooking Ambleside. When sleep calls, head upstairs to one of the five well-presented bedrooms on offer, all boasting en-suite shower rooms and TVs, including two king-size (zip/link) and three doubles. Awaken in the sleek en-suites before grabbing your walking boots to join the Cumbrian Way, guiding you towards various local amenities and walking trails. On your travels, enjoy tours of Rydal Cave, take in the beauty of Skelwith Force waterfall, or explore the grand grounds of Wray Castle, a National Trust property. Windermere is a prime area to visit, offering an abundance of activities to add to your itinerary, enveloping its picturesque lake, including Cook House Gallery, the Windermere Jetty Museum - Stories of boats and steam, and Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre, offering various water sports including kayaking. Ambleside, which is located at the northernmost point of Lake Windermere, is a great starting point from which to explore the middle Lakes. Grasmere and the Langdale Valley are also close by. There is a lot to do here, including boat tours, cruises, and water sports on Lake Windermere itself, as well as a wide variety of stores, eateries, and pubs in the hamlet to satisfy every taste. A little strip of beach and wonderful lake views can be found in the parkland at Waterhead, while a trek through the woods along Stock Ghyll will lead you to the captivating cascade of Stock Ghyll Force.
