Guests say

3 Highrake is a charming cottage praised for its perfect location, offering great walks and beautiful views. Guests appreciate its warmth and the provision of essentials, though some updates and a focus on guest comfort would enhance the experience.

Guests have reported issues with cleanliness, including dirty knives and pans left in the oven, and a musty smell upon arrival. A more thorough clean between guests has been suggested.

The cottage's location is highly regarded, with guests enjoying the beautiful views, peaceful surroundings, and proximity to local amenities and walking routes.

Mixed feedback on comfort, with some guests finding the property warm and well-equipped, while others noted uncomfortable furniture and beds, and a lack of a welcoming atmosphere during winter nights.

Facilities are adequate with everything needed available, but guests have noted issues such as out-of-sync TV, ineffective storage heaters, and a lack of recycling options. Some maintenance is required.

While guests have not mentioned specific gifts, they suggest that small touches like a welcome pack would be appreciated. As there is no direct reference to gifts, a score cannot be provided.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location. The bathroom needed some attention and the property was a little tired. But everything needed was there it was very warm and great that Wi-Fi available which isn’t always possible in lakes. The other other down side was there no where to recycle. Definitely would return to cottage

Holiday Review: Great Location, but the Cottage Needs Some AttentionWe recently stayed at this cottage and really enjoyed the location. It's in a lovely area that's perfect for walking, with beautiful views, a nearby river, and good access to local shops and hotels. It’s a peaceful and convenient base for exploring the surroundings. That said, the cottage itself could benefit from some updates and a little more attention to detail. The furnishings and overall decor felt quite tired, and the property had a musty smell when we arrived—possibly from the sofas. The TV was also out of sync, which made it tricky to relax in the evenings. The information on arrival booklet needed updating also. While the essentials were in place, a few small touches would have made a big difference—such as ironed bed linen, a more thorough clean between guests, or even a simple welcome pack with milk or bread. These little things can really help guests feel more at home. With some care and investment, this cottage has great potential. The location is a real highlight, and with a bit more focus on guest comfort, it could become a really special place to stay.
