Holmedell Lodge in Cumbria is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and tranquil location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities and the thoughtful touches, including welcome drinks. The presence of wildlife adds to the charm, although a few mentioned minor issues with maintenance and walking paths for dogs.
The lodge receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as spotless and the cleanest they've stayed in. One review mentioned the outside furniture and decking area could be cleaner, but this seems an isolated comment.
The location is described as tranquil and peaceful, perfect for wildlife watching and relaxation. It's within driving distance of local attractions, though one review noted a lack of walking paths for dogs.
Guests find the lodge cosy and comfortable, with a particularly comfortable bed mentioned. There were suggestions for lighter bedding and a fan for warmer weather, indicating room for improvement in adapting to temperature variations.
The lodge is well-equipped for self-catering, with ample kitchen utensils and a BBQ. However, there were reports of mice in the roof and a desire for information on local walking paths, suggesting some areas could benefit from attention.
Unfortunately we’ve been unable assess this category comprehensively enough based on the reviews we’ve received from guests about this property.
A modern log cabin in an ideal location for exploring the North Lakes, Holmedell is four miles from the village of Greystoke, just a 15 minute drive to Penrith and a 30 minute drive to Keswick. At the heart of a quiet development, in a privileged spot overlooking the central pond at Duke's Meadow, this stylish lodge is ideal for a family holiday at any time of year. When you enter the lodge, you walk straight into a hallway and then into a large and very contemporary open plan living area with comfortable leather sofas, a dining area for four and a well laid out and fully equipped kitchen. There's a TV with integrated DVD player and Bluetooth speaker, plus a feature electric fire for those chillier evenings. The accommodation is all on one level and is completed by a double bedroom (double bed) with Smart TV and its own stylish en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC, plus a twin bedroom also with TV/DVD and with lovely views over the pond. There's also a separate family bathroom with bathtub, shower over, basin with vanity unit and WC. Occupying a favoured location at the centre of the park, you'll enjoy relaxing on the decked veranda with its table and chairs after a busy day in the Lakes. Or enjoy the view from waterside in the gravel garden area with further seating - an ideal spot for watching the birds and red squirrels that are frequent visitors. With bustling Keswick with its shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants within driving distance, and breathtaking Ullswater just a 10-minute drive away, there's plenty to do within easy reach of Duke's Pond Lodge. The surrounding countryside, including nearby Greystoke forest, is all easily accessible and there are plenty of opportunities for walks from the relaxing to the more energetic! Ideal for exploring the North Lakes and Eden Valley, with its lakes, mountains and vibrant small towns, Holmedell Lodge is easily accessible from the M6. Enjoy mountain biking, fell walking and kayaking and sailing or for a more leisurely exploration of the Lakes, enjoy a cruise on one of the much-loved steamers across Lake Windermere or Derwentwater. The Lake District is also a gastronomic paradise with superb local produce and some of the best fine dining in the entire country. There's no wonder the Lake District is a world heritage site. For a Lakeland countryside holiday in contemporary style at any time of year, Duke's Pond Lodge ticks all the boxes.
This charming village has a number of 17th century cottages and is conveniently situated just 5 miles from Penrith.
