We had 4 nights here for a short hiking break. We knew that the place would be small and cosy from the reviews although it was difficult to establish this at first glance from the photos on the website. For us this provided an excellent base as we had transport and a van for all of our outdoor kit. If you needed somewhere to keep clothes for a longer break this would not be ideal. The room was advertised as self catering. It had a fridge, a microwave, a toaster and kettle but no cooker oven or grill. It was the size of an en suite room in a hotel. This was just big enough for 2 of us for a couple of days and was a much more luxurious alternative to camping. The cottage was cute in a quiet location off a main A road in and out of the northern Lake District with plenty of places to safely park a vehicle. However, there was nowhere to dry out our hiking gear after a very wet few days.We did love the concept of an affordable cottage style accommodation. This is ideal for visitors thinking about a base for a hiking holiday. However, one improvement I would make is maybe consider an on site laundry area to wash and dry hiking gear.

There are no windows - only a stable door to let in fresh air, and the layout is poor with very little storage. A large caravan is better laid out and has more storage! And every time the upstairs apartment uses water or flushes a loo, you can hear the swoosh of water in the pipes. And people moving about. Fine for a night or two but not longer. We left 2 days early.

Great location, great use of location, good value for money, Id stay again. Compact with everything you need. There was no broom to clean the floor and it was a bit warm with no ability to turn the heating down overnight.
