Meadow Syke Barn in Cumbria is highly praised for its picturesque setting, quality mattresses, spotless bathrooms, and well-equipped kitchen. The hot tub is a favourite feature among guests. The host, Ruth, is commended for her warm welcome and helpfulness. The property serves as a great base for exploring the Lake District, with local amenities and attractions within easy reach. While most reviews are glowing, a few note minor issues with furnishings and driveway access.
Guests consistently mention the spotless condition of both bathrooms and the overall cleanliness of the property. One review noted dust and hairs in a drawer, but this seems to be an isolated incident.
The barn's location is frequently described as beautiful and ideal for exploring the Lake District. It is within walking distance to a local pub and shop, and close to various attractions. However, some guests mentioned the driveway and visibility when exiting as concerns.
The comfort of the beds and the quality of the mattresses are often highlighted. The underfloor heating and the hot tub add to the comfort. A few guests, however, felt that the living space was slightly small for four people and mentioned a need for better furniture and pillows.
Facilities like the well-equipped kitchen, utility room, and hot tub are well-received. The property is dog-friendly with dedicated areas for pets. Some guests suggested improvements in storage solutions and the provision of a more robust fence between adjacent properties.
Many reviews express gratitude for the thoughtful touches such as a welcome basket, local recommendations, and the provision of dog amenities. While gifts are appreciated, they are a gracious gesture from the host and may vary with each stay.
