Hawkshead is a lovely village which preserves the beauty and character that attracted it to its most renowned inhabitants, William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. The profusion of little passageways, thoroughfares, archways, and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century buildings give this village that touch of charm which makes it so popular.
