Sunny Beck is a charming cottage set in a tranquil, rural location with extensive gardens leading to a beautiful river, making it ideal for those seeking peace and nature. Guests praise the spacious, well-equipped kitchen and the relaxing atmosphere, with many enjoying the wildlife and outdoor space. While some mention issues with damp, cleanliness, and maintenance, most found the cottage comfortable and warm. The property is a short drive from amenities, and the garden is a highlight for many. Overall, it offers a restful retreat, especially for nature lovers and families.
Reviews are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage clean and comfortable, while others noted issues such as damp smells, mould, and areas needing a deeper clean. Bedding and towels were generally acceptable, but some soft furnishings and the kitchen bin required attention.
The rural, riverside setting is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and access to nature. Guests enjoyed the peaceful environment and extensive gardens, though some noted the need to drive to local amenities.
Many guests found the cottage warm, beds comfortable, and the space suitable for families and dogs. However, some reported uncomfortable mattresses, damp in bedrooms, and occasional issues with heating.
The kitchen is frequently highlighted as well-equipped and spacious, but some guests found the property tired, with maintenance needed for beds, pans, and outdoor furniture. Issues with TV reception, heating, and lack of basic supplies like bin bags and firewood were also mentioned.
While the cottage is generally well-equipped, several guests noted a lack of welcoming touches such as extra bin bags, dishwasher tablets, or firewood. No gifts were mentioned, and the provision of amenities could be improved for a more homely feel.

Due to the nature of this property and land there are a number of drops within the grounds of about 1.5 metres and so children must be supervised at all times. There is an unfenced stream in the garden. Access to the back garden area, is from steps at the door of the property, not the gate with 'private' written on. This property is next door to UK1367 which shares the garden
Suitable for up to 2 pets

The cottage is in a beautiful setting, but let down by the tiredness of the property. For the price that is charged, it requires a full refurb and a deep clean. The gardens need attention too, I actually did some weeding on the pathway whilst there. Mattresses were of low quality and very uncomfortable. The bathroom fan is not set to a timed stop setting and runs for a very long time and is very loud when trying to get to sleep. This could be made into a lovely rental if the above was to be carried out.

The cottage was beautifully located, the garden far larger than shown on the images, and we swam daily in the beautiful River Crake, and watched bats every evening over the river (Daubenton's and pipistrelles). The cottage is wonderful in summer, clean and comfortable, but there are some areas lacking - better kitchen equipment, and the provision of more than one extra binbag, a couple of dishwasher tablets etc would have felt welcoming. The garden has been neglected, and desperately requires a proper gardener to release the beds from the stranglehold of weeds. No kindling/firewood provision also noted. Wonderful bones, but more generosity required to give it a truly homelike feel. However, if you love swimming, and you get good weather, its genuinely magical.

The Garden is beautiful and with a few changes inside this could be a perfect holiday spot. Beds need to be replaced. Bedding linen fine and towles ok. Pillows good qualitt. Strong smell of damp in large bedroom and living Room. A few candels got us through. Lucky we were in june but heating wasnt working. We had to buy logs and kindling fire lighters and matches. Blankets available.Kitchen is large, some pans need replacing but cooker, washer, dishwasher all good. Basics like black sacks salt pepper an inconvience to go out for. Knives blunt unable to cut meat and luckily we knew how to sharpen one which took some timr. Perhaphs clear messages on advertisment. Plenty of space in kitchen for 2 labs and our open top crate. Not far from Ulverston lots of choice for shopping ftom aldi to M&S/ Booths .. Lots of local choice. Cafe's and resturants.Walks nearby. Whatever your fitness levels. Lots of friendly locals. Its somewhere id love to visit again especially the outside space but lack of sleep would be a worry. Supervision is needed as river was quite strong and luckily dog was on extendable lead to help pull them out. They both only did that once. I was told its not always that strong. Missing for me outside loungers and a barbeque thats not tottally rusted.
