Lake Windermere is one of the gems of the Lake District, and this beautiful Victorian home boasts views of the lake from three bedrooms, as well as views of the fells beyond the terrace. Yet there’s plenty to tempt you away from the panorama, with a cinema room and games room in the basement. With five large bedrooms as well as a drawing room, dining room and snug, there’s lots and lots of space for large family groups to enjoy their time away.

Birkdale House is surrounded by acres of private farmland and you’ll find an abundance of walks to enjoy in the grounds and beyond, either in the fells or down towards the lakeside. The summit of Brantfell is just a fifteen-minute walk from the property, while the Biskey Howe viewpoint is ten minutes away. Both offer stunning, panoramic views of Lake Windermere, the Langdale Pikes and the western fells beyond. Don’t worry if you can’t manage strenuous walks, there are paths for all abilities in the vicinity.
