Guests say

Ellerthwaite House in Windermere receives high praise for its cleanliness, superb location, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, though some found the seating low for older visitors. The property is noted for its spaciousness and the thoughtful touches that make it feel like a home away from home. While some minor maintenance issues are mentioned, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

The property is consistently described as spotless and very clean, with only a few isolated comments about cleaning being slightly below par on certain occasions. The majority of guests were highly satisfied with the cleanliness.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with easy access to Windermere's centre, shops, and restaurants. Its proximity to Bowness and the Lake District's attractions also contributes to its high rating.

Comfort is generally rated highly, with specific praise for the beds and spaciousness. However, some guests found the seating and mattresses uncomfortable, and there were comments about the warmth of the upper floors, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are well-regarded, especially the well-equipped kitchen and luxurious bathrooms. Some maintenance issues such as a broken boiler, shower drainage, and hot water concerns have been noted, which affects the score.

While many reviews mention the property being well-equipped and feeling like a home from home, there are no specific references to gifts or special thoughtful gestures provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.

The house is equipped with everything you can possibly think of. Fantastic base for a lovely break away.

Excellent quality fixtures and fittings (apart from a couple of dripping taps) and a lovely, snug and warm rear lounge - tended not to use the front lounge as colder with a sooty smell. Location is wonderful, being only along the road from the shops, bars and restaurants of Windermere Village - tried a different eatery every night! A good time was had by all - thank you.

Would highly recommend. Just a couple of minor issues with previous guests towels left in one of the laundry bins and large clump of hair behind one of the dressing tables.
