About this property

Jodene Lodge, Redwood 2 is a charming single-storey lodge in Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria, with lake views and off-road parking for two cars, ideal for a small family or friends bringing one well-behaved dog. Arrive and wander into the open-plan living space, where the kitchen, dining area, and sitting area sit side by side for easy holiday living. After a day outdoors, the electric fire adds a gentle glow while you settle in with a brew and map out tomorrow’s plans. The kitchen is set up for laid-back self-catering, featuring a gas hob, oven, microwave, and fridge/freezer, catering to everything from quick breakfasts to unhurried suppers, while the dishwasher ensures a swift clean-up. A useful utility space provides extra room for everyday holiday essentials and, with a TV nearby, evenings indoors can be as simple as watching a film and sharing a snack. When it’s time to wind down, choose between two inviting bedrooms, both with TVs. The double bedroom comes with an en-suite walk-in shower, offering extra privacy, while the twin room is perfect for children or friends. A separate bathroom with a bath and shower over is on hand for a steamy soak after long walks or a quick rinse before you head out.

Step outside onto the decking and take a seat with your morning coffee as the lake view draws the eye; it’s a lovely spot for watching the light change across the water. With a shop close by and a pub within easy reach, picking up picnic supplies or heading out for dinner is straightforward. For exploring further, spend a day in Ambleside and visit Brockhole on Windermere for lakeside trails and activities, then head to Kendal for Kendal Castle and the Brewery Arts Centre. Complete the trio with Grasmere, calling in at Dove Cottage before a stroll around Rydal Water. However you choose to spend your time, Jodene Lodge, Redwood 2 makes a great base for Lake District adventures.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and 'Go-Ape' adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
