Open the doors and step into the open-plan living space, where soft green kitchen fixtures add a gentle touch of colour. Set the espresso coffee maker going for a fresh morning brew, store your ingredients in the fridge and freezer, or use the electric oven and hob to prepare a favourite meal while the dishwasher takes care of the clearing up. Pull out a chair at the dining table, share dinner for two and make plans for the following day’s woodland adventures. Afterwards, sink into the sofa and add a log to the woodburning stove as warmth spreads through the lodge.

Choose a film on the mounted TV, with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and cable or satellite channels available, or select a book from the reading material and settle in while the flames flicker nearby. When evening draws to a close, the double bed tucked into the corner awaits, providing an cushy place to rest before another day beneath the trees. For a day among the trees, make your way to High Lodge in Thetford Forest, where you can follow woodland walking routes, explore the forest on two wheels and stop for refreshments surrounded by tall pines.

At Brandon Country Park, wander through established woodland, admire the historic hall from outside and pause beside the lawns for a picnic beneath the open sky. History enthusiasts can visit Thetford Priory, where you can walk among evocative medieval ruins, uncover the story of the Cluniac monastery and follow the riverside surroundings into the heart of Thetford. Return from each Norfolk adventure to ease into the hot tub, light the woodburning stove and enjoy an evening together at Foxtail Lodge.

The lovely village of Mundford is set in Norfolk, on the edge of the beautiful Thetford Forest and benefits from a local shop, a Post Office, a pub, newsagents, a mini-supermarket with a butchers, two hairdressers and a beauty salon. Thetford Forest is Britain's largest lowland pine forest with nature reserve and the Peddars Way National Trail. Families, walkers and cyclists will enjoy High Lodge Forest Centre with its excellent trails for all abilities and Squirrel Maze for the children. The nearby town of Thetford is a large ancient Norfolk market town bordering Suffolk, with an interesting historical past, easily discovered by following the town’s many varied trails and museums.
