No smoking.. This seaside cottage is nestled in the popular seaside village of Caister-on-Sea and 700 yards’ walk away is the long sandy beach backed by dunes. The village amenities are also a short walk away with a selection of pubs, restaurants, takeaways, bakery, butcher, and supermarket. There are miles of soft sandy beaches and dunes to explore, and dogs are welcome on the beach all year round, sea fishing is also available (licence required). There is horse racing, and a greyhound stadium also hosting stock car and banger racing throughout the summer season; both stadiums have their own bar/restaurants to provide a great night out. Caister Castle, built in 1432, which currently houses an impressive classic car collection, is also nearby.
The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth is a 15 minutes’ drive, or a 6 miles’ beach walk, offering fun for all ages. Hosting a pier with live entertainment, fun fair, Sea Life Centre, leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, amusement arcades, as well as candy floss, ice cream and fish and chip shops available along the main promenade, there are also a shopping arcade and market square. The Norfolk Broads National Park is also on your doorstep, and this impressive and unique landscape is best explored by boat. Daily boat hire and river trips are available to explore the expanse of waterways and there are many waterside restaurants along the way. The fine city of Norwich, with two indoor shopping centres and a market square is a must for any shopping enthusiast, it also has a cathedral and castle museum, theatre, plenty of restaurants, cafés, and pubs. Lovely house,beautiful period features, plenty of space. Clean and well equipped. Close to the beach and all ammenities. . Well loved with so many lovely touches.

Sadly, we did not enjoy our visit to Dune-Cottage, but here are some of our positives first. The cottage was more spacious than we had expected and the location is great - you can get to most places in Norfolk very easily from Caister. There is no off-street parking, but that is not much of an issue as there is plenty of on-street parking available in the neighbouring roads. A beautiful, sandy and very quiet beach is a 5 minutes walk from the house.We were disappointed by the poor maintenance of the property - both external and internal. The furniture was tired and especially the sofa needs replacing. Downstairs rugs were stained and woodwork such as banister, skirting board and window sills are chipped and damaged.. We didn't feel that the property was particularly clean, especially the kitchen. Things like toiletries were leftovers from other guests, there wasn't much handwash or toilet tissue available.For the price paid, we had expected a more welcoming, clean and better maintained property.

We stayed at Dune Cottage in Caister-on-Sea for 3 nights and had a truly lovely experience. We travelled with my disabled parents and our two cockapoos, and the cottage was perfect for all of us. The location is fantastic – just a short, easy walk to the beautiful sandy beach and dunes, which made it ideal for gentle strolls with my parents and plenty of fun for the dogs.The cottage itself is bright, clean, and very well equipped, you don't need for anything at all. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable. The living room area was lovely and cosy, plenty of blankets, cushions and games to play if you didn't want to watch the telly. My parents found it easy to move around, and the enclosed garden was a safe, secure space for the dogs to enjoy. The neighbours were really lovely as well, gave me some useful information in regards to parking in the area. One of the best things about staying here is how close it is to good food options. Over the 3 days we tried The Brilliant Chip Shop for some proper seaside fish and chips, had a delicious meal from Dragon Palace Chinese, and grabbed a takeaway from Caister Kebab House. For lunch one day, we picked up fresh sandwiches and treats from Ye Old Bakery, which we’d definitely recommend.Even though we were only there a short time, it was such a peaceful and enjoyable break. Caister has a lovely, quiet charm but is still close enough to Great Yarmouth if you want more shops, restaurants, or attractions.We’d highly recommend Dune Cottage, especially if you’re travelling with dogs or family members with limited mobility. It’s comfortable, welcoming, and in a perfect spot to enjoy the Norfolk coast. We’re already planning to come back for a longer stay!
