Guests say

Curlew Cottage is highly praised for its prime location near the beach and its spaciousness, making it ideal for families and pet owners. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable seating, and the warm welcome from the host, Debi. While some minor maintenance issues and parking challenges are noted, the overall experience is positive, with special mentions of the thoughtful touches like a welcome pack and festive decorations.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests describing it as clean and fresh. However, there were isolated comments about kitchen utensils needing washing and a dirty washing machine, slightly affecting the score.

The location is consistently praised for its proximity to the beach, local amenities, and attractions. The convenience of having shops, pubs, and the beach within walking distance contributes to a high score.

Guests find the cottage spacious and the seating comfortable. However, there are mixed reviews about the beds, with one guest finding the mattress too hard, which impacts the comfort score.

The cottage is well-equipped, but some guests reported issues with appliances and heating. The presence of a well-stocked kitchen and utility room is positive, but maintenance concerns slightly lower the score.

Guests mention thoughtful gestures such as a welcome pack, Christmas decorations, and recommendations for local attractions. While these are appreciated, it is noted that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.

Curlew Cottage was perfect in every way. Everything we needed was to hand, being good quality and in great condition. Would highly recommend it to everyone.

We stayed as a family of 4 and a dog, one of the party was on crutches. Debi came round to introduce herself and give us the house rules and a rundown of where everything was and answer any questions. You are certainly not cramped in the house, as there is lots of space and comfortable seating. There is a well equipped kitchen with plenty of condiments, a large fridge freezer, and utility with washing machine, airer and another freezer. There's also a large double bedroom. The garden is not massive but big enough for the dog to run around and has a gas BBQ and picnic table seating. The small bathroom downstairs is fine to shower providing you are under 5ft 9in, or you have to crouch. Upstairs there is a roll top bath and shower cubicle, as well as three more bedrooms. The location is perfect with the beach access at the end of the street and a lifeboat station offering ice cream, food and drink. The beach is sandy and has a costal path into Great Yarmouth. There are pubs shops, supermarkets and take aways all within walking distance. Yes, there are always a few things that need addressing like the kettle has lots of limescale, the fridge freezer has seen better days, washing machine was filthy inside but as cottages go this is by far the best we have stayed in.

We had a lovely stay at Curlew Cottage. There were loads of room for the two younger children to play. The welcome pack was lovely and our eldest son really enjoyed the biscuits. (Don’t think we got a look in haha) Great location in terms of being near the shops and so close to the beach. Debi the host was lovely, really welcoming and couldn’t apologies enough about how the previous guest had left some things. I don’t like to be negative but some of the downsides to staying here were:*We had to wash some of the kitchen utensils up before we could use them- the cheese grater was covered in hard smeared cheese. *The kitchen was well equipped of crockery for adults however there was nothing for children, we went and bought some plastic plates, cups and folks just so our children didn’t have to use the porcelain ones incase they broke.* The bed in the double room upstairs was so uncomfortable, the mattress was really hard and therefore me and my partner had to sleep separately for the whole 2 weeks due to one of us needing to be upstairs with the children and how much backache I got from sleeping one night on the mattress. (However the downstairs one was so comfy) *The parking was absolutely horrendous. The property doesn’t have any parking so you have to park on the street. And it’s every man for himself. You are told to be respectful of the neighbours however they don’t take anyone else into consideration when they park. A few times we had to park on the next street and walk round which wasn’t ideal having two small children.* During our stay the house next door had building work going on, the builders turned up one morning at 7am shouting at each other and using power tools. Waking everyone up. Despite these negative points the house was big and is great if you have a big family. And once again Debi the host is such a lovely person and so down to earth!
