The Hollies offers a heated pool, games room, and a cosy annexe, set in a pleasant rural Norfolk village. It's dog-friendly with an enclosed garden. While some guests found the property to have great potential for family gatherings, there are noted concerns regarding cleanliness and maintenance.
Multiple reviews mention a lack of cleanliness, including stains, cobwebs, and uncleaned areas. Despite complaints and a reported cleaning service, issues persisted, indicating a significant need for improvement.
The property is described as being in a fantastic location, with proximity to boat hiring yards and pubs. The rural village setting is appreciated, although one review mentioned traffic noise.
Comfort is mixed; beds are noted as comfortable and clean, but issues with heat and room sizes are mentioned. The bunk room is described as too small and lacking privacy.
Facilities like the heated pool and games room are highlights, but there are negative comments about broken items, missing parts in games, and a need for better maintenance and equipment.
While some guests were disappointed with the welcome pack not meeting expectations, there is insufficient information to determine the consistency of thoughtfulness in hospitality. It should be noted that gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.

Just before we left, we read the previous reviews but hoped things weren’t going to be too bad! Before arriving we were getting concerned as there was no code to get in, this didn’t arrive until the morning. We should have been notified that this was going to be the case!On arrival the first thing we noticed was no welcome pack as promised, except for an out of date bottle of milk, a bottle of Rose and some cheese sticks! Not the wonderful looking pack advertised. Then we noticed stains all over the kitchen units which we wiped off.My daughter found stains all over her bed, there were loads of cobwebs and dead spiders in the games room. The windows and mirrors all had smears and marks. Nothing that could be moved to clean under, had been. There was a Christmas label under a cushion, we found this in September!!There were no tea towels and only 6 small towels for 6 of us to last for a week, these should have been provided. There was a stain in the downstairs toilet, this toilet was broken. My guess is the place hadn’t had a proper clean for years!!We did complain and apparently a cleaner arrived the next day while we were out. We had drawn a heart in the dust on the floor in the on suite on arrival, this was still visible after the place had been re cleaned! The stained sheet hadn’t even been changed. After we complained again we were informed that the cleaners were 40 minutes away so would drop new sheets off later, these arrived creased in a plastic bag with a child’s top the following morning!!The shower door in the on suite didn’t close properly. A window in the other double bedroom was broken and wouldn’t close. We couldn’t get the heating to come on when we were cold. The key kept getting stuck in the annex, it took us ages to get out.The curtains in the master bedroom were of the rail, after I put them back on my hands were yet black with dirt. The rail should have been white but was literally black as I had turned it round, I can’t imagine how long it would take to get this dirty!Just over a week after being back home, some of us have found out we have contracted Scabies, the fact that more than one of us have it tells us we picked it up from here!!!This place should be so nice, it has everything you could want and is in a fantastic location. It’s just not being looked after or cleaned properly!!!!It’s really not worth the money being asked!! I think the owners realise this as they never once contacted us after we complained, to see if we were happy.

We had a good week but the accommodation definitely isn't luxury. Big hole in 2 of the mattresses, one heavily stained, maggots in the washing machine drawer and mould, dirty shower plug, I contacted the owner and they sent someone to clean the shower and washing machine but upon further inspection after taking the drawer out of the machine there was fungus and mould, needs more attention to detail. The games room was a bonus but the board games supplied all had missing parts, broken darts (they did supply a new set). Could do with a few more basics in the kitchen, no milk in fridge or washing pods despite saying they were supplied and only a handful of pegs for the washing line, the swimming pool was a bonus but the accommodation is definitely not for twelve people as stated, bunk room far too small and house so hot, definitely need some fans as bedrooms so hot at night.

The Hollies has all the ingredients to be a perfect location for a family get together. The heated pool & games room were a tremendous success.Unfortunately the property would benefit from a deep clean, especially the floors, windows, oven & some of the equipment.
