Shawdon Hill Coach House is a cosy and comfortable cottage ideal for couples, with a large garden and situated in a peaceful, scenic part of Northumberland. Guests appreciate the enclosed garden, especially those with dogs, and the property's cleanliness. The location is noted for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions, though a car is necessary for travel. Some guests mention road noise and suggest improvements to facilities, but overall experiences are positive with many looking forward to returning.
The property is generally praised for its cleanliness, with guests finding it clean and well-presented upon arrival. There is a minor mention of cobwebs, but this seems to be an isolated comment rather than a common concern.
The location is appreciated for its scenic surroundings and proximity to attractions, though it requires driving to access them. The absence of local shops and footpaths for walking dogs nearby is noted, and the proximity to a busy road is mentioned by some guests.
Guests find the cottage cosy and the bed comfortable, with a warm atmosphere enhanced by a log burner. Some guests suggest the need for better noise insulation and a lighter duvet option, indicating room for improvement in comfort.
The cottage is equipped with necessary facilities, but some guests suggest maintenance and updates are needed, such as garden furniture replacement and attention to the garden. The forceful water tap and limited grocery storage are also mentioned.
Guests are pleased with the welcome pack, which includes wine and biscuits, though it's politely noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed. The property is considered dog-friendly, but some expected additional amenities for pets.

The coach house is in an excellent location if you want a peaceful quiet stay. The garden is a lovely size and is also enclosed. The accommodation was clean and presented well. There is a long list of information to read regarding how appliances work and guest expectations. We didn't expect to have to strip the bed, especially as you have to be out by 10.00 am. There is a small welcome pack on arrival consisting of milk, biscuits, and a bottle of wine. Be aware that if stopping here, there are no local shops, so we had arranged for a Tesco delivery on Saturday morning. This was our first time in Northumberland, and we loved how dog friendly most places are. The cottage is about 30 mins drive to the coast and other local attractions, so you need to drive everywhere. We were also disappointed that there wasn't any foot paths for walking the dog close to the accommodation. For us this was the only down side. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but will look for something closer to the coast next time.

Shawdon Hill Coach House is a lovely cottage with a large outside area with furniture. The cottage is reasonably well equipped. It had been cleaned but there were quite a few cobwebs around which we vacuumed up. The double glazing in the room is a good idea to keep the noise of the busy main road nearby at bay, but it really needs this in the bedroom too. The outdoor area needs some TLC, the outdoor furniture needs replacing and the garden requires attention. The surrounding area is very scenic but there is nothing nearby on foot. It's a great location for driving to alnwick and other nearby places such as Edlingham Castle, Chillingham Castle, Branton Lakes & Alnmouth.

The cottage has all one could wish for in an excellent facility and location.Car drivers have to take extra care though when turning out of the lane onto the main A 697 road which is at times very busy with fast travelling traffic. The hand basin tap in the toilet/shower room could do with a bit of easing/lubrication. Both my wife and I received a few involuntary cold frontal showers when turning on the tap. The force of the water is so great it blasts out until one gets used to turning it on very gently. Great fun!!
