The bustling town of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters - the daily catch can be bought at a fish shop in the harbour. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst charming Alnwick with its castle and award winning gardens, and the National Trust's Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.

It was very comfortable, had an amazing view and was very well equipped. As previously said, there are a few bits n bobs that need updating but nothing to spoil your holiday. Would definitely come back. Thank you for everything

However general cleanliness needs the be improved. The toilet needed cleaning , everywhere needs a good hoover , washing up bowl was dirty on outside. There was dog poo in the garden and food left in cupboards. The cottage needs some serious maintenance floor downstairs chipped in places , paintwork refreshing etc. There was no instructions for appliances or information about bin collection. There was a welcome pack which was considerate . Itâs a great cottage and could be a real wow if cleanliness and maintenance were prioritised.

There are definitely some maintenance issues that could be easily put right. After 2 years the front door still needs a hefty shoulder to open and now some of the laminate flooring in the living area is starting to warp. The whole place could do with a deep clean and some minor repairs could make the whole accommodation 5 star. The wooden seat in the grassy garden is old and falling apart and the concrete garden could be made more friendly with a little effort. (As I commented 2 years ago) On the plus side, the bathroom and shower were very good and the king sized bed plus bedding were great. The location makes the it easy for us to put up with the faults.
