The bustling town of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters - the daily catch can be bought at a fish shop in the harbour. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst charming Alnwick with its castle and award winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.

Very good bed and the most comfortable recliner ever. Good range of equipment and pretty clean throughout. Back yard can be secured and our dog loved it. It is also a suntrap. Would have booked again for next year but already fully booked!!

However, upon arrival, we were disappointed to find the property in a very unclean state. My mother and I had to carry out a deep clean before we felt comfortable unpacking. There was a welcome pack provided, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated. Unfortunately, the steep staircase proved to be a serious issue for my elderly parents, who struggled with it throughout the week. Had we known about this in advance, we would not have booked the property. Additionally, there is a low ledge on the staircase that poses a risk of head injuryâit really should be clearly marked or addressed. The overall condition of the house suggests itâs in need of significant attention. There were visible marks on the walls, large cracks in the ceiling, skirting boards awkwardly screwed into place, bubbling paint, and threadbare carpets. Flooring throughout the property is lifting and will cut human or animal feet. The property would benefit greatly from a thorough deep clean and some much-needed TLC.

By the park and by the sea with a view of Coquet Island. This is the best feature of the property. The property itself is a bit dated and needs some updating. However the biggest issue was the lack of cleanliness. There were clean towels and bedding but it felt like the property itself had not been cleaned. We had to clean when we arrived and multiple times thereafter as the longer we stayed the more dirty we realised it was! There was a lot of dog hair, dust and a musty smell. The property needs a thorough deep clean. The outside space in the yard needs some attention and some new garden furniture. The grass needed cutting and the bench is very old which is a shame when there is a beautiful sea view to enjoy.
