Melandra is a well-received cottage praised for its comfort, cosy atmosphere, and excellent location for exploring Northumberland. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms, good WiFi, and the enclosed garden, especially those with pets. The property's charm and character are noted, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches enhancing the stay.
Cleanliness is generally good, with several guests finding the house clean and comfortable. However, some noted minor issues such as a marked tablecloth, unclean grill mesh, and a kettle needing descaling. One review mentioned a rusty oven tray and dusty areas under beds, suggesting room for improvement in housekeeping.
The location is highly praised for being peaceful and ideal for exploring local attractions such as Bamburgh, Holy Island, and Alnwick. The proximity to the coast and the opportunity for star gazing are also appreciated, contributing to the high score.
Comfort is a strong point for Melandra, with guests mentioning very comfy beds, cosy living spaces, and a warm atmosphere. The spaciousness and the enclosed garden add to the comfort, especially for those with pets.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen, good WiFi, and plenty of hot water. However, some guests noted the need for a working vacuum cleaner, a defrosted freezer, and better heating in some rooms. The presence of a downstairs toilet and additional amenities like an Air Fryer are positive aspects.
While guests appreciate the well-equipped cottage and its amenities, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would guarantee a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

The Cottage is very comfortable plenty of parking and the garden excellent . the location is very good The cottage is well equipped esp the Kitchen, plenty of seating and beautifully decorated. I would definitely stay again .Now The downside Housekeeping needs some work the freezer part of the fridge was so full of ice ,I couldn't, open the Draws a defrost was needed, One oven tray was very rusty . there is nowhere to store any dry goods due to lack of any cupboard space Upstairs under the beds was very dusty (not been vacuumed or cleaned for a while ) The upstairs Radiators did not get very warm and the bathroom Rad stayed cold (Guess needs Bleeding)

The only faults we found was that the wipeable table cloth was marked and that the grill mesh needed to be scrubbed before I could use it as there was burnt food on it. The kettle was also in need of a descale as black bits came out of it when I first rinsed it out.Everything else was fine. Warm, comfortable, with everything that we needed in a lovely part of the country.

Great location for getting around Northumberland, very comfy beds, spacious rooms nicely decorated & not full of clutter. Good WiFi connection, plenty of hot water & decent bath sheet size towels. Only given 4 stars due to a few minor niggles, including things like the cooker & microwave hadn't been cleaned before our arrival & as previous guests have said a pint of milk to make a cuppa would have been nice after a long journey. We had a good few days & enjoyed our break.
