However, others found the property clean and comfortable, and recent improvements have been made. Some isolated incidents of poor cleanliness were reported, but bedding and towels are generally fresh.

Gullsway is a detached single-storey cottage directly facing the sea in the picture postcard coastal village of Beadnell. Situated on the prestigious Harbour Road; Gullsway offers immaculately presented self-catering holiday accommodation. There is a cosy wood burner in the living room where the sea views are mesmerising. To the rear of the property is a fully enclosed patio garden; an idyllic place to dine alfresco.
Beadnell is a popular holiday destination and offers local facilities including a well-stocked village shop and family friendly pubs serving good food all within a gentle stroll from Gullsway. This is a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts, including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. It can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown; idyllic for a romantic barefoot stroll in the sand, to listen to the waves lap against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air. Two miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands – famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony – depart regularly from its harbour. Here there are several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and shops with horse-riding, fishing and golf on the links close by, this being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island – known as the birthplace of Christianity, and is the site of Lindisfarne Castle, can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy). Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden – a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
Gullsway is an excellent choice for those seeking very smart coastal accommodation, conveniently situated within easy walking distance to a beautiful expanse of golden sands, making this a superb selection for a traditional seaside holiday set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This little holiday cottage has the most picture perfect, uninterrupted sea view and is by far its biggest feature. We have stayed in Gullsway before and can say that on our visit this time we felt the property was in need of some TLC, the dining chairs and sofas have seen better days along with the kitchen appliances. The bathroom is also in need of a little bit of love. Around nice stay and we hope to return for another visit in the future.

Firstly I start with the positives! It’s absolutely perfect location and sea view is stunning. The property is within walking distance of many lovely cafes and the local shop which provides an array of items perfect for your stay. The negatives of this property are widely known as per the previous reviews and it doesn’t seem to have changed when I have taken my family. Wishful thinking. There had clearly been a dog in before our stay where the dog hair was still left under the coffee table, attached to the chair feet and on the lounge windowsill. The windows had cobwebs and dead flies on. The bathroom although clean on the floor and tiles had a terribly black mouldy shower screen seal. It had clearly been left to go black and never cleaned. The kitchen was clean, with good facilities. The table in the kitchen was surrounded by 4 chewed and scruffy faux leather brown chairs. It’s the first thing you see as you walk into the property. Not a great start. The beds were hard, uncomfortable and the pillows were all differing materials. The blue bath towels were bleach marked. There needs to be a privacy blind in the front bedroom as everyone can look in and it’s hard to enjoy the sea view. The curtains in the front bedroom were as such as the lining was longer than the actual curtain. It’s just the attention to detail where it completely lets this property down. I won’t be coming back to stay with my family. It’s a shame but the owners must know by now how many things are wrong. It needs a complete refurbishment.

We have been going to Gullsway for approx. six years now and whilst the cottage is average for our needs it’s not at the internal or external level I would recommend to others.
