About this property

Whinstone Cottage is a charming seaside holiday home overlooking Embleton Bay and Dunstanburgh Golf Course, perfect for couples, families, and their dogs. This former quarry master’s house sleeps four across two bedrooms with a cosy atmosphere. Just a short walk from Embleton’s farm shop, Grey's Inn pub, and the stunning beach, it’s ideal for a Northumberland holiday. Explore Embleton Beach, a vast, dog-friendly stretch of sand crowned by dramatic Dunstanburgh Castle. Nearby attractions include Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, and boat trips to Lindisfarne. Whinstone Cottage offers comfort, scenic walks, and endless adventure.

Whinstone Cottage is a seaside delight. Enjoying fantastic views over the links of Dunstanburgh Golf Course to Embleton Bay, the Northumberland holiday cottage is ideal for couples and families as it sleeps three people in two bedrooms with an additional child's trundle bed available, and is dog-friendly. The former quarry master's house is built from the stone that gives it its name and is only a short walk from the village farm shop and the friendly Grey's Inn pub. With the beach a quarter of a mile from the door and Alnwick only eight miles away, you have all the features and amenities you need for a self-catering holiday on the Northumberland Coast.

Embleton Beach is a vast sweep of sandy coastline. The ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle sit at the northern tip against a suitably dramatic backdrop of the North Sea. Despite its beauty, you'll likely find the beach deserted, especially out of peak summer season. It only takes ten minutes to walk from the cottage by following a scenic route across the golf course and through dunes. It's easy to see why BBC Countryfile Magazine has voted Embleton as the Beach of the Year. The beach is protected as part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is popular with bird watchers, and allows dogs all year round. The views from the Northumberland Coast Path are spectacular. Follow the route to Craster or walk to Low Newton for a pint at the Ship Inn before continuing to Beadnell.

One of the most prominent local attractions is Alnwick Castle. Owned by the same family for over 900 years, the castle's collections offer a fascinating glimpse into centuries past. Fans of the Harry Potter films will instantly recognize Alnwick as the exterior of Hogwarts, and the castle hosts entertaining events during school holidays. Other attractions include Bamburgh Castle, boat trips to Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands from Seahouses, and the Elizabethan town walls in England's most northern town, Berwick-Upon-Tweed. You're also close to the Northumberland National Park for more outdoor adventures.

Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement, and the owner can provide a travel cot and a high chair for infants and toddlers, ensuring a stress-free stay for families.
