The former quarry master's house is built from the stone that gives it its name and is only a short walk from the village farm shop and the friendly Grey's Inn pub. With the beach a quarter of a mile from the door and Alnwick only eight miles away, you have all the features and amenities you need for a self-catering holiday on the Northumberland Coast.

Embleton Beach is a vast sweep of sandy coastline. The ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle sit at the northern tip against a suitably dramatic backdrop of the North Sea. Despite its beauty, you'll likely find the beach deserted, especially out of peak summer season. It only takes ten minutes to walk from the cottage by following a scenic route across the golf course and through dunes. It's easy to see why BBC Countryfile Magazine has voted Embleton as the Beach of the Year. The beach is protected as part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is popular with bird watchers, and allows dogs all year round. The views from the Northumberland Coast Path are spectacular. Follow the route to Craster or walk to Low Newton for a pint at the Ship Inn before continuing to Beadnell.

One of the most prominent local attractions is Alnwick Castle. Owned by the same family for over 900 years, the castle's collections offer a fascinating glimpse into centuries past. Fans of the Harry Potter films will instantly recognize Alnwick as the exterior of Hogwarts, and the castle hosts entertaining events during school holidays. Other attractions include Bamburgh Castle, boat trips to Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands from Seahouses, and the Elizabethan town walls in England's most northern town, Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
