Hartam House in Hexham, Northumberland, receives high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location for exploring the local area. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, friendly village atmosphere, and the beautiful garden. The cottage is a hit with both human and canine visitors, offering a peaceful retreat with plenty of walks right from the doorstep. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests planning return visits.
Reviewers consistently mention the property's exceptional cleanliness, with several noting it was very clean upon arrival. The attention to detail in this regard contributes significantly to the positive experiences of the guests.
The property's location is frequently highlighted as ideal for exploring Northumberland, with easy access to Kielder Water and forest walks. The village's friendly atmosphere and proximity to a local pub and tea rooms add to the appeal, although one review mentioned it being a bit remote for shops.
Guests find the cottage spacious, cosy, and comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a warm atmosphere. However, a few guests noted the leather furniture was not to their liking, and one mentioned a drafty window, slightly impacting the comfort score.
The property is well-equipped according to guests, with a well-maintained kitchen and the inclusion of Netflix and a telescope. Some minor maintenance issues such as outdoor lights not working and a loose handrail were pointed out, but these do not seem to detract significantly from the overall experience.
Several guests mention thoughtful touches like a welcome bottle of prosecco and beautiful flowers, which contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. However, as these gifts are not consistently reported by all guests, it is important to note that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
