Advertised as luxury and paid for luxury but got budget/basic accommodation within the lodge. Stayed with plenty of luxury lodges with hoseasons and the ones at the lakes and Matlock were above expectations. Arrived to find lock hanging off of the patio doors/ child size beds(less than the standard 6”6) and not the normal width. 3 adults and one tall 16 year old grandson Used the hot tub and the small glass table provided was broken and the glass slipped off as the leg was broken. The one chair we put our towels on had a broken back so again reported but not replaced. Slept with wet hair the first night as NO hairdryer so had to go the next day to buy one, never had to do this b4.The gas cooker & boiler service out of date.this lodge company could not provide the basics. No milk/water on arrival. The shower door fell off twice and I’m disabled! Shower door edging strip was coming away. Water pressure an issue so the dishwasher/washer dryer took longer because of the drop in pressure. 4.5 hours for a 2 hour cycle. 5cm of hand soap in one bathroom and the lodge was inadequate and definitely not worth staying in! Spiders everywhere and running across the bedrooms seeing tiny spiders. No space for coat hooks and storage and no coat hangers and we did ask so all lived out of trolley dolly’s but no space so a very uncomfortable stay. When the washer spun it was on the wall to the lounge and the large mirror vibrated loudly and we worried it would fall off the wall.It was cheap as chips at a high cost as not a last minute so unhappy. All the lovely places around were great to see it was just difficult for our daughter and grand son with children’s beds so my grandson had to sleep on the sofa because his feet went into the other bed as they were placed in a L shape as the bedroom was so tiny.

Great location to explore the Northumberland coast. The crazy horse pub / restaurant has great food and a good selection of drinks.I marked local amenities lower as shops etc are not near by you need to drive and that includes getting back on the A1.Site is clean and tidy it has a lovely kids play area.
