Rose Cottage offers a spacious and well-equipped base for exploring Northumberland, with a great location close to attractions and beaches. Guests appreciate the friendly staff, dog-friendly policy, and the lively on-site pub with good food. While the cottage is comfortable and quiet for some, several guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, particularly regarding mould and dated décor. The property is best suited to those seeking a practical, sociable stay rather than luxury or seclusion.
Multiple reviews mention issues such as mould, dirty floors, stained furnishings, and poor upkeep, though some guests found the property clean and comfortable. Staff responded promptly to requests for cleaning, but overall standards were inconsistent.
The location is frequently praised for its proximity to attractions, beaches, and the scenic Northumberland area. The on-site pub and easy parking are also highlighted as positives.
Guests generally found the cottage spacious and the beds comfortable, though some noted issues with dampness, musty smells, and noise from the pub. The living area is described as comfortable, but the lack of windows in some rooms affected comfort for certain guests.
Facilities are adequate for a short stay, with essentials provided and a well-equipped kitchen. However, several reviews mention maintenance issues such as broken showers, poor ventilation, and outdated appliances. Safety testing on electrical items was also questioned.
No welcome pack or complimentary items were provided, and guests noted the absence of basic supplies like tea bags. Staff were responsive and helpful when issues were raised, but thoughtful touches were generally lacking.

Location and area stunning food from the actual bar was very nice.Accommodation, This property requires a serious deep clean Mould in many areas and everything is stained / impregnated with the stench of nicotine. The fridge was growing mushrooms the oven full of fat and mould totally unacceptable standard of cleanliness also the gas/ electrical safety will be guaranteed out of date for example last PAT test on the washing machine 2017 and most of the other electronic items were outside the required 5 year testing.Pictures are available but not allowed to post them on here be warned very dirty.
