Harness Lodge in Seahouses offers a scenic and tranquil getaway with friendly locals and good dining options nearby. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, comfort, and picturesque location. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with special mentions of a welcoming host and thoughtful touches like a welcome pack and wine.
Most guests found Harness Lodge to be clean and tidy, with comfortable furnishings. However, one review mentioned dust, cobwebs, and a lack of a cleaning regime, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for its scenic views, proximity to Seahouses and Bamburgh, and easy access to nearby attractions. It is described as perfect and picturesque, contributing to a high score.
Guests generally found the lodge comfortable, with comfy beds and sofas. However, some mentioned issues with stiff doors and noise from mice in the attic, which affects the comfort level.
The property is well-equipped, but several reviews cited maintenance issues such as a broken shower, noisy extractor, and problems with the toilet flush. The lack of a working central heating system and WiFi also impacted this score.
The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, providing a welcome pack and wine. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this score reflects the positive experiences shared without setting an expectation of gifts.
Harness Lodge is a delightful two-bedroom stable conversion located on the outskirts of the picturesque coastal community of Seahouses, Northumberland. Harness Lodge is a great option for couples or a family of four, as it is located within the Northumberland Coast AONB and is close to popular attractions like Farne Island (owned by the National Trust) and Alnwick. The home has two off-road parking spaces, a patio in the front with outdoor dining furniture, and direct access to the open garden areas. The kitchen/dining area is well-equipped, so you can prepare your finest meals to enjoy at the dining table for four with a bottle of wine. After dinner, retire to the inviting sitting area, where you can relax on the sumptuous sofa while watching your favourite movie on the TV, as the woodburning stove crackles nearby. Keep going to reach the sleek bathroom, complete with a bath for leisurely soaks, and an overhead shower. When the evening grows dark, you can choose from the two tastefully decorated bedrooms available, one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds. Stroll around town and treat your loved ones to a meal at Insieme, Indian Brasserie, or Black Swan Inn, pick up some necessities at the local convenience store, spend the day at the beach, or take a boat out to National Trust-Farne Island. Depending on the season, visitors to the Farne Islands may see birds or grey seals and can get out on the water in a sea kayak or when diving. Visit the RNLI Grace Darling Museum, the historic Bamburgh Castle and Bamburgh Lighthouse, test your golf swing at the wonderful Bamburgh Golf Club, and finish up with some delicious local seafood at The Potted Lobster before moving on to the next town. You can also visit the beautiful Hulne Park and Alnwick Gardens, as well as the Bailiffgate Museum and the spectacular Alnwick Castle, all of which are located in the nearby town of Alnwick. For an unforgettable stay with loved ones, choose Harness Lodge.
