Guests say

Hillcrest in Seahouses is a well-regarded cottage, praised for its prime location, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests appreciate its proximity to local amenities and the coast, as well as the secure garden for pets. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests planning to return.

The majority of guests found Hillcrest to be very clean, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few reviews mentioned specific cleanliness issues such as a smelly sofa and a dirty kitchen bin, which slightly impacted the overall impression.

The cottage's location is highly praised for being central and convenient, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the coast. The provision of a parking permit is appreciated, although some guests found parking challenging during busy periods.

Guests consistently mention the comfort of the beds and the cosy atmosphere of the cottage. Some feedback suggests that the sofas could be more comfortable, but overall, the property provides a comfortable stay.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good Wi-Fi. However, several reviews cite maintenance issues such as a dripping tap, broken shower head, and issues with the front door, which suggests room for improvement in this category.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score for this category.

Great location though the grassy bank at the back of the property makes it difficult to unload/load car at the back. Had to park on double yellow lines and unload/load car from the front. Not a hardship just something to be aware of. The radiator in the small room was cold even when heating was on. However we managed to warm the bedroom by leaving other doors open.

Our first night was a bit challenging as the majority of Seahouses was on a 16 hour power cut , however the owner came over with a couple of extra torches for us so we could use upstairs . Having a parking pass was great as could be used in other council car parks we never paid for parking all week. Garden is fully self contained so we had peace of mind for the dogs and there is gated access at the rear however I found the gate a bit of a struggle with gate when coming back in (I am very short though) , I wondered if a combination lock might be beneficial . What I would like to say how friendly people are in Seahouses, wherever you went and in particular there is a newsagent on the Main Street who strangely had electric when we were all off who made me some coffees and told me if I needed hot water to take a flask down and she would fill it for me.

The cottage was decorated beautifully for Christmas time which we really appreciated. Hillcrest is in a prime location close to shops, pubs & restaurants. Great comfy beds & lovely fluffy towels. It had everything you required. A few points to note: the sofa's in the living/kitchen area could do with replacing as they are well worn & smelly.....we had to use the throws before sitting on them. There were no pillow protectors on pillows. The lighting at the decking area is not very bright & totally insufficient at stairs going down to garden...our dog fell down the stairs as it was dark when we arrived so a sensor light here should be essential also a light or sign on or inside the back gate warning of the step up as again in dark when unloading the car we nearly tripped on this. These are minor suggestions but from a safety point of view essential especially over winter dark months and moreso as there is no lighting at the designated car parking area. We really loved using the wood burner in the evening. This was our 4th visit to Seahouses having previously stayed in King street. We will definitely return to Hillcrest as we both along with our dog had a wonderful stay. Thank you.
