The Old Parish Hall in Seahouses is praised for its excellent location, peaceful surroundings, and spacious accommodation, making it a great base for exploring Northumberland. Guests appreciate the off-road parking, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable living areas. While many found the property clean and cosy, some noted areas needing maintenance and updates, such as the garden, boiler, and bathroom. A few guests mentioned minor issues with cleanliness and amenities, but overall, the cottage offers good value and a pleasant stay for families and groups.
Several guests found the property clean and tidy on arrival, but others reported issues such as musty smells, mould, stained bedding, and the need for deeper cleaning in some areas. Cleanliness is generally acceptable but could be improved with more attention to detail.
The location is consistently highlighted as a major strength, with guests loving the quiet setting, proximity to the beach, harbour, and shops, and easy access to local attractions.
Most guests found the cottage comfortable, spacious, and cosy, with good sleeping arrangements. However, some mentioned uncomfortable beds, soft mattresses, and minor issues with heating and furniture.
The property offers ample parking, a well-equipped kitchen, and modern facilities, but some guests noted missing items (like baking sheets and towels), maintenance issues (boiler, shower, garden), and areas needing updates.
Some guests appreciated small touches such as washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, and one guest found a bath mat in a local shop and left it for future guests. However, these gestures are not guaranteed and may not be provided for every stay.

The Old Parish Hall is located within north Sunderland and situated at the edge of Seahouses. There is a wide array of facilities including tearooms, restaurants, pubs and shops all around a mile away. Boat trips to the Farne Islands, which are famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies, run from the harbour. Horse riding is available within a gentle stroll from The Old Parish Hall and there’s an impressive golf course on the links around a mile away. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is only 2 miles north with its wide expanse of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches, and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as ’Holy Island’ and the birthplace of Christianity in the UK, can be viewed. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to countless sea and land birds, making this location a haven for bird watchers. The market town of Alnwick, with its own castle offers many facilities a few miles inland. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its Grand Cascade Waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Beach 1 mile. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

The cottage is a good size. Large living room/diner could do with additional arm chair. Conservatory ok but chairs needed the cushions cleaned. Garden was nice but quite a bit of random stuff around which could easily be moved. When we arrived a group of 5, we only had enough towels for 4 and enough plates for 4. I contacted the company and they provided us with extra plates and chopping boards on the Monday. We still didn't get extra towels. The boiler needs attention as you have to keep pressing the button that is lit up red for hot water. Hoseasons and Cottages are aware of this but no notification from either beforehand. Bathroom good size but need a bath anti slip mat and new shower curtain as it's very grubby. Overalll it was great value for money. It just needs a few things sorting and this could be outstanding.

The location of the house is just a ten minute walk from Seahouses and is in a lovely quiet area off the main road with off road parking for one car. The garden is wellMaintained however we used our own chairs as the outdoor furniture was rusty and dirty. Inside the house the bedrooms are good sizes and beds fairly comfortable, lots of wardrobe and drawer space, however there is a strong musty smell in the double bedroom which carpet deodoriser and air fresheners did not help with. There is mould behind one of the single beds in the twin room. The bathroom is extremely mouldy both tiles and walls and the dampness can be smelt in other parts of the house. I imagine this is the reason for dehumidifier boxes in all rooms, however they did not help much. The kitchen has got a big fridge and freezer and oven grill and hob work fine however the kitchen is poorly stocked for a party of five with there being barely enough cutlery and crockery. There are no oven trays so worth taking your own if planning on cooking. We also had an issue with slugs in the kitchen every night, both on the floor and also evident on the pans in one cupboard and also once in the twin bedroom. There are no dishwasher tablets, bin bags, foil etc that sometimes can be found in rentals. These niggles are a shame as the house has got a great location, comfortableLounge and dining room and decent garden for children to play in. We would book again if assured that these issues had been dealt with and overall we have had a good holiday.

This property is in an ideal location. We had a problem with lack of hot water, the boiler had turned itself off and it was Tuesday before this was dealt with. A engineer came and started the boiler with a reset button and instructed us to do the same again if it failed again. Subsequently the boiler needed resetting numerous times, clearly it needs attention. The conservatory doors didn’t lock properly so it didn’t feel secure. The conservatory furniture was grubby, perhaps because dogs had been allowed on it. Whilst the kitchen had all the usual appliances there was insufficient equipment for a family of 5 , no baking sheets if you needed to put something in the oven , only 5 plates / dishes ,no spare cutlery for serving which was a problem when there was no hot water for washing up. .The garden furniture was dirty and obviously hadn’t been cleaned( we had to clean it before using it). The shower hose in the bathroom needed a good scrub as did the mould behind the bath taps. The house has the potential to be really good as it was well furnished , however it’s let down by the lack of attention to basic details and has an air of neglect. We noted that previous guests had highlighted similar problems so we know that it wasn’t just us being picky.
