Guests say

Turnstone Cottage in Seahouses offers a tranquil setting close to the beach, ideal for dog owners and those seeking a functional stay. Guests appreciate the ample hot water, electrical appliances, and garden furniture. While some find the accommodation basic, the cleanliness and prime location are highlights, making it a suitable base for exploring the Northumberland coast.

The property is generally clean, but some guests noted areas that could be improved, such as the unkempt patio. The presence of clean areas and minor issues suggests above-average cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its quietness and proximity to the beach, making it an excellent choice for visitors interested in these aspects.

Comfort is compromised by dated and creaky single beds, and a small settee, indicating a need for improvement in this area.

Facilities like the kitchen and living room have functional appliances, but maintenance issues with flooring and kitchenware are noted. The absence of a fridge freezer, contrary to the advertisement, affects the score.

There is no mention of gifts or additional thoughtful touches in the reviews, so this category cannot be scored.

The house is in an excellent, quiet location and has everything else we required. Although it’s no frills accommodation, the tv, WiFi and being so close to the beach for our dog were great. Kitchen functional and handy to have a washing machine and freezer. We have had a good week in spite of the lack of sleep. The 2 single beds are unfit for purpose. They are probably circa 1940s bases with springs which have had planks of wood put over the top. Every time you move in bed it creaks and keeps you awake. Mattresses not great either but I appreciate this is personal preference.

The house had such promise in terms of location and kerb appeal, beautiful roses by front door. It was clean however the details let it down.In the kitchen the first view was a tempot with a dirty bandage round the handle, there were 2 more teapots in the cupboard along with numerous bits and pieces. The Teflon pans were so scratched and should not be used. One cupboard was filled with odd glasses. There was no fridge freezer as advertised only a fridge.Living room, the laminate floor was damaged and could hurt a child's bare feet. The chairs were fine but settee was of poor quality and small, seating fine for 2 or 3 but not for 4.The main bedroom was fine but the single bed creaked..The garden furniture was good but the paving would have benefitted from a good clean. On the plus side there was plenty of hot water. The electrical appliances were good.It could have been so lovely with some care and attention to details.

Unkempt patio area. Needed weeded and a pressure wash to clean the slabs. The hedges needed trimmed. The front lacked kerb appeal.
