Sleeping up to eight guests, the property is ideal for groups or families, walkers are particularly attracted to this area with walks from the door into the gorgeous countryside. A relaxing balcony offers countryside views and a space for al-fresco dining.
It is said that Postman Pat’s ’Greendale’ is based on Wooler, being the gateway to the Cheviots. Nearby there is the Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery, here you can do a tour of the distillery and have a tasting session to try their selection of whiskeys. Wooler is on the edge of the National Park and is only 15 miles to Berwick on Tweed, with a beautiful beach and plenty of shops and history. All of the Scottish Borders are easily explored from here, with Coldstream only 14 miles and Kelso a little further. Edinburgh is only 90 minutes away.

A very spacious, clean and well situated holiday home. We particularly appreciated the well equipped kitchen, comfortable seating and lots of games and jigsaws in the lounge, the comfortable beds, three bathrooms with an ample supply of hot water and towels (and a welcome pack of toiletries and shower cap etc) and the easy off street parking. . Wooler is an attractive small town and the house is within a few minutes walk of a Coop, various other shops, cafes, pubs and an Italian restaurant and a park for the children. We recommend a visit to An Gefrin which is a short walk away. It’s a beautiful modern building which contains an interesting free museum of Anglo-Saxon Northumbria, a shop and a lovely cafe/restaurant (as well as a whisky distillery which we did not visit - tours and tastings available). The Cheviots are a beautiful area to explore and we enjoyed our visits to Bamburgh, Beadnell and Cragside. There is so much to see here and the Old Forge makes an excellent base. I am sure we will return.

The Old Forge is a beautiful comfortable property in a lovely little town with wonderful views of The Cheviots.The property has good sized rooms with high ceilings. It is well equipped with lots of thoughtful attention to detail.Wooler itself is small town with reasonable amenities on the High Street such as pubs, restaurants and a small supermarket.Close by you have wonderful towns such as Berwick upon Tweed and Alnwick. Wonderful seaside towns such as Bambough with its incredible castle! And Seahouses with boat trips to see the seals and puffins!The Scottish Borders are also close by and delightful. We would recommend Eyemouth, where you can feed seals in the harbour, St Abbs and Seacliffe Beach in North Berwick.

What a lovely home with everything you could possibly need and plenty room for us all to have our own space. Great amenities just around the corner & for the walkers plenty beautiful countryside right out of the front door. NO hesitation in recommending this beautiful home, we had a fabulous time
