Here you are in the perfect location to enjoy the great outdoors. The village of Skinningrove is undiscovered by most tourists and is peaceful all year round. It is a quaint little bay, with neighbouring Cattersty Sands just a short walk away. This is the perfect choice for those looking for a tranquil beach holiday away from the crowds. The village is mostly inhabited by locals, with a little café, a village shop as well as a fish n’ chip shop. For those who love the coast, there are some wonderful beaches nearby to discover, either on foot along the Cleveland Way, which is a walking trail along the cliff tops, or by car.
Saltburn is a surfers’ paradise, with an iconic pier and trendy bars and restaurants. Staithes has undeniable charm; this village huddles around the shoreline, with fishing boats sailing out from the harbour. Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll taking in the fresh sea breeze, and Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away. This seafaring town has a fascinating history, with the abbey overlooking the cobbled streets, independent shops and quirky cafés. Visit the museums, ride a boat out of the harbour or simply take in the sights and enjoy award-winning fish n’ chips.
The North York Moors National Park is also on the doorstep, with ancient forests, miles of heather-clad hills and valleys, and lovely villages and walking trails. The many local events include Staithes’ art festival, Saltburn’s food festival, and Whitby’s regatta as well as the famous Goth Weekend. The big event on Skinningrove’s calendar is bonfire night in November, when residents build a huge wooden sculpture on the seafront, which is set alight after a spectacular firework show. Each season has its highlights, from impressive waves crashing on the beach in winter, spring wildflowers on woodland walks, glorious sunny summer days on the beach, or purple moorland as the heather bursts into bloom, then taking in the autumnal colours before warming up beside a crackling fire in a choice of cosy country pubs.

Absolutely amazing break away, beautiful cottage and scenery. We were lucky with the weather as in we got sunshine but the wind was extremely strong which meant our planned walk up the coastal path had to be called off which is where my now fiancée had planned to propose which meant we actually got engaged in the front room of the cottage despite all his best efforts to have a scenic back drop. It was perfect though and made for a truly special week. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous place!

We bought this holiday as a gift for our daughter & son-in-law. They had a lovely time & were very comfortable. The only thing was outside space for the dog. They were fine as their dog loves everybody & everything, but commented that for us personally we wouldn’t be able to take ours. We need to know that he is safely enclosed as he has PTSD & is very nervous. We would love to visit as the area looks amazing.

Arcadian is certainly a little Gem. A lovely 2 up 2 down house which is wonderfully equipped for a great stay. All the rooms are comfortable and cozy, the log burner was fantastic and actually got a bit too warm. The bed was comfortable and we slept really well. We can't fault Arcadian, it's ideally situated for use as a base for traveling and exploring the East coast. We would definitely come back. Although the weather for our stay wasn't great we thoroughly enjoyed it. A lovely well appointed, furnished house which was as clean as a whistle. Thank you very much. 5 stars without a doubt.
