Would I recommend Calf House Cottage? ABSOLUTELY without a doubt.!!This place is amazing, my husband, sister and I returned home after a wonderful week there refreshed and renewed and with so much information about the workings of a dairy farm where Sharon and Steve work so very hard and still have time to welcome folks into this lovely comfortable cottage. The cottage itself is very well appointed with everything one would need and more to spend a week or more, whether its a working bolthole while in the area or a family holiday for a family you cannot go wrong by staying here. The two bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. There is ample storage so you can unpack rather than live out of your suitcase. The bathroom is really large with a great powerful shower and plenty of hot water, the addition of a shower chair was a bonus for me as approaching eighty i do get worried about falling.so thankyou Sharon for that thoughtful touch. The living room was really comfortable and light with 2 big sofas and a giant chair which my husband claimed immediately. The bonus was that it had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the calf paddock and the calves were entertaining to watch as we were relaxing. The kitchen had everything we could need to cook and serve at the spacious dining table. The bonus was a large fridge freezer which was great as i always take food for the week with me to eat in.Sharon and Steve are perfect hosts, they are very welcoming and kind. Sharon herself goes out of her way to make sure that everything is perfect for you and despite her busy day is always available to give advice and provide any assistance needed. She is very knowledgeable about places to go and see and recommend. She could put any tourism office to shame. Steve always has a cheery smile and a thumbs up as he passed by usually in his tractor or carrying buckets of feed around.Sharon found the time to give us a lengthy tour of the large facility explaining the whole procedure from calving to milking. The amount of information was mindblowing and interesting and we never knew there was so much involved in running a dairy farm and holiday cottage. Thankyou Sharon for that time you gave us in fact thankyou for aiding us to have a memorable week.We arrived with a long to do list but although we did some ghing we spent more time relaxing, reading knitting and talking. You need to visit this wonderful place you will be glad you did. Finally a big thankyou to you Sharon and Steve for helping us to create wonderful memories. We will indeed be back in the next few months.

We had a fabulous time at Calf House Cottage. Sharon and Steve were great hosts and really friendly. It was brilliant to be on a working dairy farm and our visit coincided with the Hopper House micro brewery opening (last Friday/Sat of the month). It was great to pop round for a drink and everyone was really friendly.Sedgefield is a lovely town with great restaurants and bars. Not too far away is Hartlepool, Durham, Beamish, Barnard castle and the coast- so it is a great base. The cottage was well equipped and very clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend and will definitely return as there is so much to see and do.

We had such a wonderful stay at Calf House Cottage! Sharon and Steve were absolutely fantastic hosts—so welcoming and kind. They went above and beyond to make our visit special, especially for the children, who were thrilled to be fully involved in farm life. From feeding the calves to collecting fresh eggs, it was an unforgettable hands-on experience that they are still talking about! The accommodation itself was superb—clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was also perfect, offering a peaceful countryside setting while still being ideal for exploring the surrounding area.We could not have asked for a better getaway and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family-friendly rural escape. We are already planning our next visit. Thank you again Sharon and Steve!
