Overall Elseghyll is very good.It is very well equipped, very warm & its location makes for a good base for visiting either the top end of the Lakes or travelling up over the North Pennines. The village itself has some good walks,we have a small blind terrier,& is worth exploring on bright day. The only two negatives is the Village Bakery & the pub which both promoted. The former is open daily, very friendly BUT it is basic & expensive. The cakes are a delicious treat but would recommend bringing bread, cereal, more milk(1 pint & fruit cake is in welcome pack) if you're a small family. The latter is very much a locals pub but note it only opens Thurs>Sun.It advertises food but no menu/prices/serving times are displayed outside.Best check before relying upon if you dont wish to self cater. I certainly give Elsghyll a strong 9 out of 10,just the strength of the local ammenities that loses the last 1 point.

There was everything one could need and more.It was comfortable and warm and within easy reach of numerous places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return if going to that area of Cumbria.
