Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, it’s the ideal accommodation option for small families or groups of friends who want to spend their days exploring the Lake District National Park or the Scottish Borders, or taking a well-earned dip in the lodge’s private hot tub.

Step inside this impressive lodge and you’ll immediately notice the effort the owners have gone to in achieving a welcoming atmosphere. Make yourself at home and then head to the stylish kitchen area to rustle up some dinner, which you can then enjoy at the dining table. Alternatively, step out onto the decking area and fire up the BBQ for an al fresco dinner. After dinner, pour yourself a glass of wine and watch the stars come out, or head in to the lounge to curl up in front of the flame-effect electric fire and watch your favourite TV shows. When the day is done, you’ll find two gorgeous bedrooms to choose from.

For a great day out, head to Aira Force (19 miles), a dramatic waterfall that’s featured in William Wordsworth’s poem ‘Somnambulist’ – a Gothic tale of love and tragedy. There you can lose yourself in woodland trails and quiet glades. Alternatively, spend a day browsing the unique exhibitions, shops and cafes at the Rheged Centre (9.5 miles). Or get active and spend a glorious day canoeing, paddleboarding or sailing on Ullswater. You can rent all the gear you need at Waterfoot Park in Pooley Bridge (12.5 miles).
