Nestled in the peaceful village of King’s Meaburn, near Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria, Rose Cottage offers a charming retreat for up to three guests and is pet-friendly, so your furry companions are more than welcome.The cottage greets you with a small enclosed front garden, accessed by a few stone steps, leading to the inviting entrance. Inside, the kitchen/dining features tiled floors, beautiful tiling, and a classic Belfast sink. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the modern appliances needed. A cosy living room with a comfortable sofa and a wood burner provides the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration. Two bedrooms await, each with wooden beams and charming décor, one a kingsize bedroom for two, and the other a smaller room for a single guest. Both rooms offer ample storage, ensuring a comfortable stay.
King’s Meaburn is a tranquil village surrounded by the stunning countryside of the North Pennines and the Lake District. In the centre of the village the White Horse Pub offers a wide range of food and drink all locally sourced (currently closed). The coffee shop in Moreland is just a short walk across the fields and offers delicious cakes and scones. A short drive will take you to Appleby-in-Westmorland, a picturesque market town in the Eden Valley, where you can find supermarkets and local eateries.
A visit to Penrith is a must, where you can explore the 14th-century Penrith Castle, its beautiful grounds, and the Penrith and Eden Museum. Don’t miss Lowther Castle and Gardens, a gem in the Lake District National Park, surrounded by woodlands and parklands. Pooley Bridge, located nearby, offers tearooms and inns, as well as scenic cruises on Lake Ullswater to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown. Hikers will enjoy nature trails leading to the renowned Aira Force Waterfall and panoramic views from Heughscar Hill.
For a peaceful retreat, head to Kirkby Stephen, a historic market town with plenty of charm. The nearby Smardale Gill Nature Reserve and the Yorkshire Dales offer tranquil landscapes, while the North Pennines provide a quiet escape with striking scenery.

Rose cottage is a lovely place to stay very comfy and clean. The woodburner is great. The garden is enclosed but the neighbours do have access so you need to be careful if you have a dog. Local pub not open so have to travel for food and shops.
