Look forward to venturing into the nearby town of Clitheroe, where a number of places to eat and drink await, as well as a number of independent shops to pick up local produce, including the award-winning Byrnes Wine Shop with its enormous underground cellar, Cowman’s Famous Sausage Shop and the Exchange Coffee Company, which stocks more than 35 coffees and 60 specialist teas. Take a moment to brush up on the local history by paying a visit to the imposing 12th century Norman Castle that towers over the town, a Grade I listed building, which is said to be the smallest Norman castle in England and is now home to a museum and 16 acres of landscaped gardens, promising a fun-filled day out for all ages. Explore the area further with one of the four circular walks that take you around town and towards the surrounding countryside, or why not enjoy a round of golf at Clitheroe Golf Club, one of the country’s best inland courses. Avid ramblers will be delighted by the plethora of walking opportunities within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, whilst other outdoor activities can be found within the Forest of Bowland, ranging from hot air ballooning, fishing, paragliding and more! Other local attractions include a visit to the Bowland Wild Boar Park, the stunning Whalley Arches and the National Trust property of Gawthorpe Hall; alternatively, you could head towards the coastline to spend time within the coastal resort of Blackpool or to Lytham St. Annes. Park Hill Lodge is an incredible property in a great location.
