Stalmine is located approximately 5 miles from the small market town of Poulton-le-Fylde, which has a good selection of shops, bars and cafés. Other places worth visiting along the Fylde coast include Thornton Cleveleys, with its old fashioned charm and promenade, 7 miles, Fleetwood, with its Freeport Outlet Shopping Village, 10 miles, and of course Blackpool, 9 miles, whose many attractions include the tower, Blackpool Zoo, Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre and Madame Tussauds.
Apart from being accessible for the coast, Pointer Cottage is also well-placed for exploring rural Lancashire. Ribble Valley with its pretty villages, excellent walks and abundance of country pubs is within an hour’s drive, as is the Forest of Bowland, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are also very accessible by road and can be reached in an hour. The city of Lancaster is just 13 miles away and Preston is 19 miles. With so much to see and do in the area, Pointer Cottage really is the perfect destination for your holiday that can be enjoyed all year round.

Please note that from 8th November, construction of a new property will be taking place nearby. The work is expected to run for approximately six months. Building activity will take place Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m, and any noise or disruption is expected to be minimal, similar to the usual sounds of the working farm environment that the property is already situated in. The site will be securely fenced off so it will not be viewable, and access and parking will not be affected.

Been coming here over 5 years. Very upset on my last visit we were not told about the building work directly opposite the cottage. No privacy therefore did not use the hot tub which is the main reason we book Pointer Cottage.

The cottage was nice. Bed was very comfy.The issue was that the listing stated that building work was happening on site, Monday to Friday, between 8.30-4.30. Imagine our surprise when we were woken up at 7am on Saturday morning to building work going on. Contacted the owner and the response was disappointing to say the least. Essentially told the work needed doing, so it was what it was. It was not specified in the listing that this was a possibility, or we likely wouldn't have booked. Felt like we were stuck to go off site, or stay in doors. Not private, could see the builders out the window. Wouldn't have wanted to sit in the hot tub with all the noise and builders around. Left a very sour taste for us.

Just spent a week there. Lovely cottage. Spacious. Handy for most places. There is a large heavy gate leading to the property which needs to be opened and closed to get car in and out. I found it difficult to open and close as the gate had dropped and you had to lift it a bit to move it. Hot tub was lovely and covered and private to some extent. They were in the middle of building a 2 storey building in front of the cottage. Not sure how that would affect privacy.
