Guests say

Childe Of Hale Cottage is a charming, historic property in a picturesque village near Liverpool, praised for its cosy atmosphere, well-equipped kitchen, and dog-friendly secure garden. Guests consistently highlight the welcoming hosts, thoughtful touches, and excellent access to local attractions and walks. The cottage is spotlessly clean and full of character, with many returning visitors. Occasional aircraft noise and minor issues such as WiFi and glassware are mentioned, but these do not detract from the overwhelmingly positive experience.

Guests repeatedly describe the cottage as spotlessly clean, tidy, and well-maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful village setting, proximity to Liverpool, Chester, and local attractions, as well as easy access to public transport and scenic walks. Some mention of aircraft noise, but most guests found it unobtrusive.

The cottage is described as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with quality bedding and a welcoming atmosphere. The only minor issue noted is the restricted headroom in the second bedroom, mainly affecting taller guests.

Facilities are frequently commended, including a well-equipped kitchen, secure garden, off-road parking, and a range of entertainment options. Occasional comments mention WiFi issues (noted as improved in later reviews) and a lack of juice glasses.

Guests consistently mention thoughtful touches such as homemade lemon drizzle cake, fresh eggs, dog towels, and toys. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Really lovely cottage with everything that you could need. Bus into Liverpool from just around the corner, a lot better than driving and parking!

lovely comfy cottage not too far from local attractions and dog walks from the door, friendly hosts and locals , weather was good as well . Lemon drizzle cake and some eggs from the hosts was a lovely touch, a very good place to stay and would probably stay again in future.

Fabulous thatched cottage in Hale Village. Perfect pet friendly getaway for us. There is a lot to do locally, from the lovely walk to the Lighthouse, gentle strolls to two friendly local pubs, who both do food. Amazing bird life in the garden, with Wrens nesting in the thatch above kitchen door. Shetland ponies next to the garden who were to bothered by our dogs. Close to John Lennon Airport, which was not annoying and we really enjoyed plane spotting and saw two Beluga Airbus which was exciting. Owners very friendly, locals lovely, great cake and free range eggs which we quickly enjoyed. As a fellow cottage owner at Crieff Armoury, we appreciated the care that the owners have invested in their home and would highly recommend and will return.
