The location is generally appreciated for its beautiful surroundings and central position for exploring the area. Some concerns about the proximity to a busy road are noted, but they do not seem to detract from the overall experience.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcome treats and pet amenities. It should be noted that while such gestures are warmly received, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th Century church with "Crooked Spire", twisting curiously from its true centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Nearby, the Elizabethan Hardwick Hall is still impressive today, with its 6 grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular is the semi-ruined 17th Century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District. Chesterfield has a host of other attractions within easy reach, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the amenities of Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera at Buxton. An interesting base for a varied break.

The cottage was spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated. Hot tub and views were lovely! Great location. We would definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We especially enjoyed the scones on arrival! The facilities were great and the hot tub was a treat! We weren’t aware on booking that pets weren’t allowed upstairs which my dog isn’t used to but we managed, but I think it would be useful for this to be on the booking for those furry friends that would struggle with this! Also would recommend a Welcome Pack to be left detailing check in, check out requirements, hot tub instructions, and possibly some local information just to really improve the stay!

We had an amazing time at Cherry Tree, the cottage itself is stunning, very spacious with a real homey feel. The hot tub is one of the best we’ve seen, private due to being partly-enclosed and waking up to the views started the day off perfectly. We visited the red lion pub, a stone’s throw away and that too was decorated to a very high standard, so cosy and welcoming. Hardwick Hall National Trust was really interesting, the stories from the volunteers were fascinating. Chatsworth Estate is well worth a visit too, even in the winter. And lastly Bakewell town centre, so quaint and lovely for a little stroll and some lunch. So many places to see, and we didn’t get to see half of them. I would definitely recommend Cherry Tree, it has everything you would want for a luxury stay as well as a great location. Thanks Andy and Clare for your hospitality x
