Just a stone's throw away from a host of local amenities, and a short drive from the Peak District National Park, 20 Buxton Road offers an ideal base for a family of four, looking to explore this delightful region; two well-behaved dogs are also welcomed. The property has undergone a full refurbishment of all rooms with brand new appliances throughout. Park up on the roadside and make your way into the property, firstly arriving at the homely sitting room, where you can unwind after a day of traversing; in here you'll find a TV and plush seating to relax into. Next door you will locate the well-equipped kitchen/diner, where you can fulfil your self-catering needs, before completing your nightly routine in the ground-floor bathroom, adorning contemporary fixtures and tiles. Catch some rest in the spacious bedrooms, including a double and a twin, before planning your itinerary, perfect for all the family to enjoy. Start off locally with a picnic at Ashbourne Park, stocking up on the essentials at one of many convenience stores, or grabbing a bite to eat at The Bridge, serving traditional pub fare. For a thrill-seeking day out, head towards Alton Towers and its host of rides and amusements, sure to entertain all members of your party, or if you'd prefer a day outdoors, opt to explore Reynards Cave, Peak the Stepping Stones, and Thor's Cave. Continue to reach Matlock, where you can visit Matlock Bath Aquarium and arcade, enjoy another day of fun at Gulliver's Kingdom theme park, follow an underground tour of The Great Masson Cavern, or hike towards the pretty surroundings of Lumsdale Waterfall. Complete your break with a leisurely afternoon in the quaint town of Bakewell, alongside the River Wye, followed by a stroll around both Bakewell Old House Museum, and the Riverside Gardens. Gather your loved ones with a stay at Church View Cottage.

Ashbourne, which is located at the southernmost point of the Peak District, is the epitome of an English market town, complete with a marketplace with stalls, an odd street layout, winding cobblestone lanes, coaching inns, and almshouses. The town was a posh social hub during its heyday in the 18th century, and many lovely Georgian structures from this period still stands today. The town is still known as something of a sanctuary for antique hunters today and still has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and inns, but don't expect a deal! The Dove and Manifold Valleys are nearby for those who prefer more outdoor activities, while Alton Towers, with its thrilling collection of thrills and attractions, is only a short drive away for thrill seekers.

Ashbourne is a lovely market town which never disappoints. Charlie made us welcome with his lovely gift and he kept in touch, checking that everything was OK. The cottage is what you’d expect of a refurbished 300 year old building. Clean, well maintained and comfortable. The location is central to all amenities but is on a busy main road, so traffic noise is only to be expected. I’d recommend Church View Cottage:

Owners were very thoughtful and responsive.

Beds were comfy. There was a welcome pack from the owners that was a nice touch. The only thing that would be useful to have is a brush and dustpan. The only issue is the location on a very busy road. The noise didn't actually bother us very much, especially in the bedrooms upstairs where all the windows are double-glazed. When walking to the off street parking up the road though, the pavement is very narrow and you can't fit a buggy. There is no crossing and the road is incredibly busy and difficult to cross so for this reason, I think the cottage more suitable for couples rather than families with young children.
