Acacia Cottage in Matlock is praised for its beautiful views, privacy, and spaciousness, making it ideal for family gatherings. The outdoor patio and conservatory are highlights, offering lovely vistas. The location is central for local attractions, though parking is noted as challenging due to steep and narrow access. Some cleanliness issues were reported but were swiftly addressed.
Guests have raised concerns about cleanliness, mentioning dust, dirt, and a mouldy fridge shelf. However, the cottage was described as spotless by a recent visitor, indicating variability in cleaning standards.
The cottage is well-situated in the heart of desired destinations with beautiful countryside views. Access is tricky due to steep, narrow roads, and parking is limited, which may be a consideration for some.
The cottage offers a comfortable stay with ample living space for large groups, good-sized bedrooms, and a big dining area. The conservatory is a plus for relaxation and enjoyment of the views.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and a secure outdoor space for pets and children. However, there are some maintenance issues like a loose floor tile and absence of a DVD player contrary to the advertisement.
While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Owner, who lives abroad, tells me that professional cleaners and decorators have been booked for next month. that should make the cottage 5*.

We loved the cottage - once we’d found it! It is very tucked in through a little alley way and the parking can only be described as tricky!! Once you’re in the cottage it is very well equipped / has beautiful views across the Derbyshire countryside and is very private. The road down to it however is steep and narrow and negotiating past parked cars can be troublesome! We were very aware that we were taking up local residents parking spaces and though we didn’t encounter any animosity it is a consideration! Cottage itself is great!

Location was really good. Right in the middle of where we wanted to go. Bedrooms are a good size. Conservatory is perfect and a big plus and gives lovely views. The outside patio is really good. Fencing all round is perfect for dogs and children.. big dining area and table was perfect for a large family. The cleanliness of the floors throughout the ground floor was dubious at best. Many weeks worth of dust and dirt under the door mats. Some of the corners were also quite grubby. Was unable to find a floor brush anywhere. Floor tile into the conservatory was loose and a hazard. Underneath of the shelves in the fridge were mouldy.Overall it was a good base with plenty of room and lovely views.
