Alternatively, brush up on the local history by discovering Chatsworth House or spending some time within the market town of Bakewell. Winster is a small village resting within the Peak District National Park, just 4.5 miles away from Matlock. Here, you will find a 17th-century market house at its centre, many 17th and 18th-century houses and is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village you will find a shop and two pubs serving beer.
