The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. We loved our stay at cosy, comfortable and very well appointed Churchside house. It had everything we needed and more. Very well equipped kitchen, all mod cons - including Nespresso machine. Spacious and comfy bedrooms, great shower and interesting pictures throughout the house! Short and very pleasant walk into town and St. Giles churchyard was magical, in a wonderful elevated position…great for morning and evening dog walks. We stayed for three weeks and would have stayed for another, if the cottage had been available. Thank you, we look forward to coming back.

Me and my husband had a lovely time. Only time for was the parking. It really was an issue, but will definitely be back for another trip.

The location was fantastic in the 'Old Town ' part of Matlock away from the busy main roads but only 10 minutes walk to all facilities. Think it would be a good idea to purchase a couple of heavy duty door mats (one for inside and one for outside) for the front door and some sort of box/container for storing muddy walking boots.
