This Idyllic Derbyshire Cottage sits in an elevated position overlooking the glorious hills of Matlock in the wonderful Peak District. The grade II listed cottage attains a high level of modern opulence, but cleverley retains many of the original features that make this cottage a very special place to stay.
There is plenty of room for both adults and children with four bedrooms, one bedroom offering ensuite facilities and three more bedrooms which share a stunning family bathroom with freestanding bath to soak in or a separate shower. On the ground floor, you will discover a large country style kitchen with all mod cons and a large living room. There is a separate dining room with an extendable table just off the living room, too. The cottage boasts a cosy snug, ideal for a nap or to read that latest novel. Through the snug, you will discover a sunroom with French doors that soak up the sun and welcome you into the garden area with its large table for everyone to gather around on a sunny day. A perfect country cottage garden opens out from the property with an array of beautiful plants and shrubs. Matlock and Matlock Bath are close by, giving the opportunity to explore the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom accessed through a cable car, and offering spectacular views of the Derwent Valley. From here you can tour the network of caverns and passageways or walk over sixty acres of woodland hillside. An ideal base from which to explore the region’s attractions including the magnificent stately homes. The beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are an absolute must see. Visit the picturesque villages of Bakewell and Ashover both close by. Excellent walking can be found from the doorstep, plus activities at Carsington Water including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and cycling, plus excellent birdwatching in the surrounding areas.

Lovely old fashioned cottage in a great location Facilities and space are good although could do with better lighting as the area is darkThe only negative would be the tight turn into the driveway but luckily never caught my carThanks for a lovely stay

We booked Sitch Farm and Little Sitch for a family get together.Both cottages were lovely and the location was great for access to facilities, walks, cycling and a host of catering outlets in the nearby town.Everything had been thought of for a comfortable stay.Both cottages were decorated and finished to a top quality degree and the beds were all comfortable and plenty of kitchen ware. The cottages worked really well for us and the characterful ambience of the houses made them very cosy. We enjoyed the outside seating area and eat dinner on the patio 2 nights in the fine weather, which was lovely.Communication with the owner was excellent and she left some wine and cake in both cottages, which was a lovely welcome.We would love to come back sometime.
