Guests say

Compton Lodge in Buxton is appreciated for its excellent location and comfortable setting, ideal for couples and pet owners. Guests enjoy the quirky, studio-style apartment with its modern kitchen and adequate facilities for short breaks. The property's warmth and the helpfulness of the staff are frequently mentioned, contributing to a pleasant stay.

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, though some guests noted areas for improvement such as crumbs in the cutlery drawer and some utensils not being very clean.

The location is highly praised for being quiet yet close to the town centre, with easy access to local amenities and attractions, making it a great base for exploring Buxton and the surrounding Peak District.

The comfort of the property is well-regarded, especially the bed's comfort, although some guests found the bed height challenging. The warmth of the property is also noted, but the lack of a bathroom sink and the high placement of the microwave were concerns for some.

Facilities are adequate for short stays, with a well-planned kitchen area. However, the absence of a bathroom sink, issues with the boiler, and the need for better thermal insulation are noted drawbacks.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

The property has huge potential, however, the hidden faults are very disappointing. The lack of investment leaves you with a sour taste. The kingspan at the back of the bed under the curtain, insulation poking through the cracks in the wooden ceiling, the fridge defrosting, are to name but a few. If the property was brought to the standard that people would expect this would be difficult to book at short notice. Thank you to the cleaner for her kindness.

Be careful to thermic isolation (in winter the place must be very cold), wifi a bit weak maybe... Otherwise, very good location, recommended

From the photos I was aware that the bed was against the wall but decided that was not an issue as I was on my own, however I had not realised how high the bed was from the ground. Fortunately I am very fit, but had I had problems with hips or knees or flexibility as many people of my age do, this could have been a problem. I was able to climb onto the bed and slide down to the floor again. The other thing that I found unusual was that there is no wash basin in the bathroom, just the bath with shower over and the loo. The property was quiet, and the parking good.
