Benefit from a designated parking space, along with additional, free roadside parking, before travelling through the pretty, shared garden, enveloping the building. Ascend the steps down to the lower-ground-floor, to be welcomed by the kitchen/diner, housing a range of culinary appliances and utensils to ease your stay; dine in this space, or head into the living/dining room for formal affairs, perfect for hosting dinner parties. If the weather allows, set the bistro table in the private patio, and bask in your surroundings, before cosying up in the sitting room, with plush sofas to sink into. As day turns into night, select between a king-size bedroom, and a small double, both serviced by a shower room. Complete your morning routine before heading into Buxton, to visit an array of independent shops and restaurants, ahead of visiting the Buxton Visitor Centre & The Buxton Crescent Experience, strolling around The Pavilion Gardens, or following the guided tour of Poole's Cavern. Head to Bakewell for further attractions, where you can brush up on your local knowledge at the Bakewell Old House Museum, take in the pretty sights of Bakewell Bridge, or even discover Thornbridge Brewery, where you can sample some local produce. Travel through the national park to take advantage of your nature-filled landscape, with the remains of Peveril Castle, Peak Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern, and the summit of Mam Tor all awaiting to be explored, before returning home in time for supper. It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
