About this property

A beautiful house, attached to the owner’s home and situated close to the cricket ground and the famous Devonshire Dome in the beautiful spa town of Buxton in the Peak District. This wonderful cottage was awarded Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence in 2015 and is perfect for larger families or groups of friends wishing to enjoy this beautiful town. Enter into the hall which has a light and airy sitting room to the right, with large windows overlooking the manicured lawn. To the left of the hallway is a well-equipped kitchen with dining area to enjoy breakfast together before heading off to explore the town or surrounding Peak District. Upstairs is a bright landing with seating area and information leaflets, making another wonderful little area to enjoy. There is an additional spacious sitting room on the second floor with comfortable sofas, a large screen TV, dining table and sink unit, ideal for teenagers or as a break away for some of your party. There are four bedrooms, two of which have zip and link beds making for very flexible sleeping arrangements and all the bedrooms have an en-suite shower room and their own TV. Outside is a pretty garden to the front with a lawn and gazebo set under a tree, making this an extra room to enjoy a sunny Buxton evening, even better with a glass of wine after a meal out! The house is within easy reach of two golf courses and a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Catch a show at the Buxton Opera House or meander through the 23-acre Pavilion Gardens. Alternatively, enjoy the yearly Wells Dressing Festival when the town comes alive with shows and entertainment and the magnificent Devonshire Dome is also worth a visit, either to sample the restaurant or indulge in the Spa! Beautiful walks can be enjoyed over Rushup Moor and in the surrounding Peak District National Park, while cyclists can take advantage of this cottage’s close proximity to the Tissington and Monsal Trails. Discover the historic houses of Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House and explore the lovely market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne and Matlock, all within easy driving distance. This house in the heart of Buxton is the perfect choice for a varied holiday all year round.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
