Treat your special someone to a romantic break away at this lovely cottage in the outskirts of the picturesque village of Castleton. Sleeping two people in one bedroom, it’s the perfect bolthole for couples who want to immerse themselves in the wild beauty of the Peak District. Embark on a romantic adventure at Speedwell Cavern (0.5 miles), where you can glide on a boat through historic 18th-century mining tunnels. Or grab your hiking boots and set off to climb Mam Tor (2 miles). You’ll be rewarded by spectacular views across Hope Valley. Alternatively, head off to Ladybower Reservoir (9 miles) to hit the cycling trails or try your hand at paddleboarding. Further afield, explore the house, gardens and riverside walking routes at Chatsworth House and Estate (11 miles) - one of England’s most famous stately homes.
Step inside and you’ll find a beautiful sitting area where thick stone walls, a traditional gas stove and striking exposed ceiling beams that add a real traditional charm to the space. Whip up some dinner in the open-plan kitchen/diner and share a romantic meal at the dining table. Afterwards, snuggle up by the glowing gas stove in the sitting area with a glass of wine in hand. Head upstairs and you’ll discover a bedroom with a stunning four-poster bed and a lovely sitting area with a sofa bed. A bathroom with a bath and a shower over it on the ground floor completes the layout.
Step outside and you’ll find a pretty, private retreat for two. Fire up the BBQ and savour an al fresco dinner while you soak up the country views. Please note there are horses on site that are stabled and grazed. Private parking is available for two cars.
