Upon entering, feel the warmth of the underfloor heating beneath your feet, set into the oak flooring. On the ground floor, you will find two welcoming bedrooms, perfect for unwinding after days spent exploring the countryside.

One bedroom features a contemporary en-suite shower room, ideal for refreshing after a long walk or enjoying a little extra privacy. The main bathroom is a spa-like sanctuary, designed for the senses. Once settled and refreshed, ascend the stairs to discover the plush open-plan living space, with vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and a welcoming sociable layout. Head to the kitchen, dressed in calming green hues, and make full use of the hob to prepare a satisfying spread. There’s a breakfast bar for quick snacks and stunning views from the sink to enjoy as you prepare meals. Gather around the dining table, pull out a chair, clink glasses, pass dishes, and savour the good company.

After plates are cleared, pick a spot on the sofa and flick on the TV, as light from the fire flickers and creates a cushy ambience for a relaxed movie night. When it’s time to turn in, head back downstairs, sink into soft sheets, and let the day gently fade away. In the morning, sip a brew in the stone-flagged patio area and soak in the stunning views as you plan the day ahead. The garden also features a fire pit, perfect for gathering around as the stars appear overhead. Enjoy countryside strolls with your loyal companion by your side​, with a nearby river to take strolls along, there are a number of good pubs in the area great for a meal and to soak up the local atmosphere.

There is a railway station in Grindleford, to explore the surrounding area with ease. For a wider selection of amenities, head to Calver, where you can stock up on essentials at the convenience store or hike up to the viewpoints of Curbar and Baslow Edge for breath-taking views. Nearby, you will find Eyam, where you can delve into history at the Eyam Museum. Visit the Eyam Hall Craft Centre or enjoy the thrills of rock climbing at Horseshoe Quarry. Take the short drive over to the popular town of Bakewell, where you can sample the famous Bakewell Pudding, tour the Bakewell Old House Museum or venture over to the esteemed Chatsworth House with its decadent interior and landscaped gardens.

After a day out exploring Peak District National Park return to The Reading Room a outstanding base with countryside views. There is a small community shop and playground within walking distance.

The pretty Peak District village of Hope lies in the heart of the Hope Valley, and on the doorstep of some great walking country. Set amongst the beautiful rolling hills of the Peak District National Park, the village boasts some village pubs which serve food, a general store, some very interesting shops and galleries to explore, and a railway station. Hope is perfectly situated for either an action-packed break full of caving, climbing, and great walks from the doorstep, or a quiet countryside break in this lovely part of the Peaks. The Winnats Pass cuts a course through superb scenery just a couple of miles away in Castleton, and is a delight for walkers, cyclists and motorists alike. Nearby are the pretty villages of Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, Castleton and Hathersage with its seasonal outdoor swimming pool, while horse riding and the wonderful Castleton Caves are all available within 3 miles. Enjoy a day out at Alton Towers or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Also within easy reach are Buxton, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, while further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek.
