Famous for its cobbled marketplace and as a setting for TV series ‘Peak Practice’, the village overlooks the meeting point of the Dove and Manifold valleys. A network of footpaths and quiet country lanes begins right from the doorstep of this detached holiday home; choose from gentle riverside routes or more challenging climbs – the distinctive dome of High Wheeldon is around 6 miles away. For a change of pace, Buxton is home to gorgeous ornamental gardens, the historic Crescent, Thermal Spa and Opera House, and the impressive limestone chambers of Poole’s Cavern. Market town Bakewell (10 miles) – birthplace of the famous pudding – is another must-see, while historic houses Chatsworth House (13.5 miles) and Haddon Hall (11.5 miles) are both set within stunning grounds.

Park directly outside, and you can unpack at a leisurely pace. A stable-style door opens into a sleek country kitchen with slate flooring and all the essentials for a fuss-free self-catering stay. Beyond, the dining room has a rustic table and an eclectic choice of seating, while the walls are adorned with a collection of super-cool artwork.
