Cherrystone Barn is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its cleanliness, beautiful garden, and secure area for dogs. Guests appreciate the private hot tub, log burner, and the peaceful, rural setting. The property is described as well-equipped and comfortable, with a welcoming host who provides a generous hamper. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, making it a sought-after retreat.
The property consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as 'exceptionally clean'. This indicates a very high standard of cleanliness maintained at the property.
The location is frequently described as lovely, peaceful, and private, with great walks right from the door. Its proximity to the South Downs and the coast adds to its appeal, making it an ideal rural retreat.
Comfort is highly rated, with guests mentioning a great bed, warm bedding, and a comfortable living area. However, one review mentioned a lack of warm bedding and an uncomfortable bar in the sofa, slightly lowering the score.
Facilities are generally praised, especially the hot tub, log burner, and well-equipped kitchen. Some reviews, however, point out issues with appliances and maintenance needs, indicating room for improvement.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome hamper mentioned in several reviews, contributing to guests' enjoyment. While gifts are appreciated, it is important to note that such offerings are at the host's discretion and may vary.
Cherrystone Barn is a bespoke oak framed barn, beautifully refurbished in a contemporary style while retaining many of its original features, and providing a state of the art boutique bedroom. The property is set within the grounds of Cherry Cottage and is a truly idyllic, secluded location with its own driveway and a charming enclosed garden with a luxurious hot tub.
A perfect romantic retreat, Cherrystone Barn oozes warmth and character. The cosy sitting room is framed by exposed oak beams and invites you fire up the wood burning stove and snuggle up on the corner sofa. The dining area enjoys garden and farmland views through the bi-folding doors which open out to the garden. The wonderful bespoke kitchen is fully equipped to take full advantage of the wonderful local produce at your disposal in nearby Lewes or Middle Farm farmshop.
An external contemporary glass and oak link takes through from the living area into the bright and airy bedroom where you can wake up to rural views through the french doors from the super-king size bed. The bedroom extends into a bathroom with twin basins and an indulgent roll-top bath and separate walk-in shower, where modesty is protected by an obscured glass divide. For a more 'private' bathing experience, a separate shower room is located next to the kitchen!
Outside, enjoy the wonderful gardens and views from two separate terraces bordered with mature and colourful planting. The terrace outside the main living barn sits under a stunning oak pergola and provides garden furniture for dining alfresco along with a charcoal barbecue; the smaller terrace leading from the bedroom has a bistro set for a morning coffee or an evening sundowner, and of course, the wonderful hot tub to soothe away the day. The summer sun can be soaked up from the two sun loungers.
Right from your front door are an abundance of wonderful walks which you can access from the garden, in addition to the 14 mile long Cuckoo Trail which allows you to explore the surrounding areas.
The village of Ripe is just a short walk away, where you will discover a village shop providing a delicatessen with delicious home cooked food, and a post office. A short drive away is Middle Farm, host to a wonderful farm shop and restaurant, as well as the National Collection of Cider and Perry. A little further afield, explore the historic town of Lewes with a wealth of lovely, independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Lewes prides itself on its array of interesting antique shops as well as the farmers market which is held on the first Saturday of every month.
