Quaint? - for the most part.Quiet? - definitely not. At the bottom of the garden a house is being built and so for five days we were woken up as early as 8am to the sound of banging, sawing and a radio playing. We thought the weekend would bring the much needed quiet we came for. We had the Saturday! Sunday as we were sitting down to Sunday roast we had people in the front and back garden using machinery to clear leaves for several hours. The property is also right next to a fairly busy main road. This you can’t do anything about but I would have expected to have been informed about the building work and also not having people attend to the property on a Sunday. So no, it was not a quiet or relaxing break. As for quaint, the cottage and garden is quite stunning. Care and attention has gone into making it suitable for most people. However, if you are six foot seven like me then this property is not for you. The ceilings are very low, and sorry, even someone of average height would need to duck to get into the shower room on the top floor. I appreciate it is an old cottage and having stayed in similar properties before I expect a certain amount of restriction. However, the photos or description on the website did not give any indication of how severe it was throughout the property so this should perhaps be reviewed. The kitchen was very well stocked with equipment. However, the dishwasher needs looking at as it wasn’t cleaning all items that well. Also the cooker, an Aga hybrid type, should really have some instructions. It also needs to have the dials replaced as there are no numbers on them to indicate how hot the oven or hobs are and is actually very dangerous.Location wise, it was perfect for exploring the Weald and RTW.
