A cobbled courtyard confirms your arrival at this cute stone cottage – step inside and the open-plan living space welcomes you, with an exposed-brick fireplace to one end. Curl up on your choice of sofa before the wood burner, turn on the Smart TV and you’re all set for a laid-back evening in. The country-style kitchen at the opposite end of the room has all the must-haves of home, and there’s a traditional dining suite where you can eat, drink and plan your next day’s adventures. A small, modern shower room is conveniently located on the ground floor. When it’s time to retire, head up the narrow spiral staircase and you’ll find a gorgeous king-size bedroom with a field view. A small extension to the main bedroom acts as a dressing room. The courtyard to the front of the cottage confirms its working-farm credentials – fire up the BBQ as the sun goes down. Stroll onto Stenbury Down or wander 1 mile into nearby Wroxhall, where the village pub offers an American-style dining experience. Just to the north, the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is open to visitors, while two miles south, Ventnor has a popular beach, eatery-lined esplanade and a fine selection of artisan cafes, antiques and souvenir shops. Must-see sites include Ventnor Botanic Garden, while the steep chalk hills above the Victorian town offer picturesque walks and sea views from the highest point on the island.
